My thoughts on "Star Trek"

I see every one of your points, and yet, I don't care. That movie was fucking awesome. Dumb villains with no backstory? Welcome to every single comic book movie, ever. Time travel? The main point was so that Leonard Nimoy could be in the movie, and I approve of that! Kid Kirk? Who doesn't love a car chase scene?

There was only one thing that bothered me. When Kirk and Sulu were beamed back onto the ship just as they were about to go splat on Vulcan's surface, they didn't go splat on the transporter floor. Wouldn't they have maintained velocity and acceleration? Humph.

I'm assuming somehow the transporter has some sort of anti-splat thingamajig. After all, it keeps people from going splat into the walls when beamed into a moving ship.

I did really love the line where he said that giving the usual Vulcan salute would be "self-serving." It was well timed. Bless you, Leonard Nimoy, even if your presence in the movie was, well, completely contrived, even for Star Trek.

Honestly, didn't you think that it would be even better if the movie had a tighter plot AND all the eye candy? I want it all!
