Man sometimes I really despise our country. Especially the politicians that run it. I'll probably never vote because I can never put my trust in a fleshly leader to make decisions that could not only change and destroy my life, but also the lives of people in the entire world (since America loves to play police officer). Doesn't it seem like they ( Read more... )

man,

so do something about it. politics is an outreach, its a way to help people and touch people. if people are important to you, politics should be too. and yeah, a lot of crap happens because of governments, but governments will always only be as good as the people who get involved. its easy to get frustrated, but God has given you the awesome power of living in a democratic republic where a vote or a letter to a representative can impact the lives of hundreds and thousands of people! use it! get into it!

sincerely,
a friendly creep who happened upon your blog via google because i couldn't find the lyrics to that denison whitmer song anywhere else online.

The thing is, once we elect a leader that has made promises that we agree with, there is no bond to his word. He does not have to carry out any of his promises. He can (and they always do) tell the public (or the members of their party) what they want to hear in order to get in office. Nothing is ever resolved, there are always problems because men are evil at heart, and currently our form of diplomacy is in the pits. I don't consider myself a citizen of this world, but of God's eternal kingdom. This world is ending and I'm not going to try to save its beauracracy, but its individual souls.

Also, I don't really see how government has ever been an outreach. If anything it has persecuted christians. Our freedom in this country is a good tool, but our freedom of religion is not at jepordy here because that is too basic to our constitution. That will never be taken away unless forcefully by a rival country who hates America (and there are many). But the day will never come when America is a "Christian government", it will never be an outreach tool in that aspect. But you seem like a cool dude and I hope I didn't come off rude. Drop a comment again sometime.
