I'm a Conservative (for those of you who've been fortunate to avoid the discussion of politics with me) (Edit from Annie: Ha! Ha!) Though I can't say I'm in complete agreement with the tactics of Tea Partyers, I can say that I do agree with the message that our Federal Government is becoming more and more Socialist and Oppressive and it is a good ( Read more... )

I have learned to become suspicious of claims of "socialism" or "oppression" these days because most of the people making them are the ones who promoted corporate welfare and regularly attacked the checks and balances system when they were in office. I also find it funny that the party who uses court cases to gain political office is claiming the administration elected by landslide is somehow not democratic. I also find it hilarious that the taxes the teabaggers were protesting were from Bush's tax plan ( ... )

Yeah I figured you'd chime in.

Like I said "I can't say I'm in complete agreement with the tactics of Tea Partyers"

The Federal Government has over stepped it's boundaries and authority time and time again, the latest of which of course being the Department of the Treasury's new "Pay Czar". Where does the Federal Governemnt get off in telling a private business what is can pay it's CEO?! Don't get me wrong, I can see the logic, it is Taxpayer's money.. but I.. the Taxpayer didn't want to Bail Out these companies anyway. If the Federal Government would have just kept it's nose and greedy hands out of the dealing of private business none of this non-sense would have happened!

To clarify, the Pay Czar can only dictate the CEO Salaries of those companies receiving bailout money, not all CEO's. This position was made necessary because of the fiasco that happened earlier this year when companies used the bailout money for pay and bonuses, not to keep the companies solvent. It creates a legal means to keep them from doing it again.
I don't like the bailouts either. Personally I feel the country was blackmailed into them. This is what happens when there is a lack of market regulation. Businesses play dirty to make money, become unstable, and then threaten the government with economic ruin if they aren't rescued. but its this irresponsible behavior that makes positions like the Pay Czar necessary. Luckily, the Pay Czar only can dictate to the businesses who have proven themselves to be irresponsible, and have no power over the businesses that actually have managed to prove they can take care of themselves.
