last monday a worker was crushed to death by a crane as he labored to build . . . well, something, anyway . . . in the until-recently vacant lot up the street from my house. the lot was home to an abandoned fast-food restaurant, weeds, and a structure that on paper was a storm drain but in reality was a mosquito nursery the locals sometimes called ( Read more... )

heh, all right.

if you wanted to try it once . . . you'd probably be best off finding an organization that does it regularly and contacting them about it. bmezine probably wouldn't be a bad place to start.

my friend jason hung me. he's a co-founder of a suspension group called ihung, but i'm not sure what their status is lately. more or less the reason i got to do it is because i'm good friends with people who are very, very into it and not because i necessarily know where to go. but that should give you something to go on, anyway.

heh, i mentioned nantucket, which qualifies, i think.

i suppose i could have given SUVs in particular a more thorough treatment, but it was approaching the upper limit of readable length as it was, i think. :)

Reminds me of Athens a little bit...

Plus, around where I live now, there's all kinds of strip mall thingies being built, including something right across the way. It's pretty depressing. Especially since it used to be where my grandparents lived.
