Prologue

He has arrived at the company earlier than the usual time, a few maintenance staffs passing by near to where he’s seated. He is currently sitting on one of the fluffy sofas provided by the company for customers in line. He let his eyes roam, afraid that the softness of the cushions might lull him to sleep.

He looked around the lobby of his new workplace and he must say, the place itself spells elegance and luxury. The walls were painted with cream brown color; the floor was made out of smoothened white marble; and the posts have intricate carvings on it. On one side of the lobby he could see a semi-circular table, covered with ebony colored tiles. On top of it are different sizes of telephones all of which connected to the main office on the top floor. He looked at the top and saw a glass chandelier hanging on the ceiling.

But a certain accessory inside that lobby caught his attention for an indefinite time. A large painting in which 2 people, both holding an umbrella while their hands are linked to each other, held his interest as he remained seated on the sofa. A nostalgic feeling enveloped him as he continued to examine the painting. Why do I feel that I’ve done this in the past? He tried to shrug off that feeling thinking that he must have witnessed that scene in one of the dramas he’s watching.

After a few minutes of staring at the exquisite painting hanging on the wall, he felt a tap on his shoulder which surprised him a bit.

‘Sorry to startle you.’ He was greeted by a good looking man wearing an expensive looking suit, the corner of his lips tugging to form a heart-warming smile as his eyes formed into crescents at the same time. Taemin’s anxiety over his new work lessened down a bit knowing that at least there’s a nice guy willing to help him out.

‘Are you Lee Taemin?’ He asked

‘Uhhhmmm..Yes. May I know your name sir?’ His gesture earned a small chuckle from the other guy.

‘Sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Lee Jinki, the general director of Lucente* hotel. I’m the one who hired you and I’m here to give you a tour at your new place.’ He offered him his hand and in return Taemin shook it with both of his hands, symbolizing their new acquaintance.

‘Thanks for hiring me, Sir! I swear you won’t regret your choice.’ Jinki removed off his hand from his clasps and raised it up to ruffle Taemin’s reddish locks. He was taken back a bit by the other’s action but soon got comforted by it, like they were long time best friends.

‘Oooppss sorry I didn’t mean that. You’re so cute! You remind me of my younger brother. Anyways let’s proceed with the tour.’ He beamed me a smile as he turned around and walked towards the elevator.

‘Well as you can see, there are a lot of floors composing this hotel, mostly these floors are occupied by the hotel rooms but the top floor is the main office and soon you’ll see it.’ He pressed the button ‘52’ and soon they were rocketing towards the top floor.

The ‘ding’ sound created by the elevator told them that they were at their destination already. Taemin became a bit ‘jetlagged’ because of their elevator trip that he almost tripped over the carpet covering the floor. Good thing before his face met the fluffy carpet; Jinki caught him by his arm and helped him stand up properly.

‘Are you okay?’ he was met by the worried eyes of Jinki. He nodded in response and forced his lips to form a small smile.

‘Yeah, just a bit dizzy because of the ride. Thanks for catching me a while ago’

‘Don’t worry there are far worse than your experience. Once there was an employee who puked at the carpets as soon as he stepped his foot on the floor. You’ll soon get used to it; just like me.’ He turned towards the corridor and walked off.

He looked around his surroundings, passing through some rooms with expensive-looking doors, until they reached a small wooden door with a window covered with white binds beside it. Jinki opened the door and motioned him to enter.

‘So here’s your new working place.’ Taemin examined the area; walls painted with white, plant pots placed on opposite sides of the door. On the right side, a semi-rectangular brown table is placed with a lone telephone and a small flower pot on top of it. Also a window is placed behind his supposedly new desk, overlooking those skyscrapers and establishments located near their area. On the opposite side of the door was another door, much larger than those he had seen a while ago, its polished wooden frame filled with ornate carvings was complimenting the golden knob attached on it.

‘Wait for a while here.’ Jinki told me as he reached out for the phone on my new desk and punched off some buttons quickly.

‘Sir, your new assistant is here already.’ He said through the speakers of the phone.

‘I’ll be coming out in a few minutes. Tell him to wait there for a while.’ A low baritone voice replied from the other line. For the second time of the day, he felt nostalgic. Why do I feel like I’ve heard that voice already?

‘He’s currently busy. Just wait for a while. He will be out here in a few moments.’ Jinki’s sudden speech interrupted his train of thoughts. He turned his head towards Jinki’s direction and tried to listen to his statement, shoving the nostalgic feeling at the back of his mind.

‘So as you have known already you’ll be the new secretary of our CEO, Mr. Choi Minho. This is your new workplace and that door over there leads to his office. Use that telephone I’ve used to contact him if there are important matters that needs his attention.’ He gave Taemin a pat on his back, a sign of encouragement and comfort, hoping to lessen the newbie’s anxiety over his first day.

‘Don’t worry since our boss is such a good person. He’s really an understanding person you know. All of the employees have a high respect towards him.’ He gave off a small smile as he felt the body beside him relaxed a bit.

But the sound of the knob turning brought back the previous rigid posture of Taemin. The door fully opened, revealing the face of his new boss.

It can’t be… His eyes began to widen, staring with full disbelief as he came face to face with the same guy that starred his dreams for months, the mysterious man who kept on responding to his calls of distress whenever he’s having a bad dream. He found himself gawking at the person in front of him, his features full of shock.

Well he must be a nice guy, doing the same things on my dreams. He regained his calm expression and straightened his posture, hoping to have a nice first impression on him. Mr. Choi greeted first Jinki first before looking at Taemin, his eyes stared with disbelief and fear towards him. He immediately regained his senses and composed himself to say something

But Taemin’s thoughts of him being a nice employer totally got flushed to the drain as soon as he heard the words Minho uttered.

‘I don’t want him. Fire him and get me another secretary.’

*Lucente = Italian word for 'shiny' = SHINee :DDD

a/n: So I think you've forgotten this fic already since it's been forever since I wrote the prologue. I've been really a lazy ass these past days (and even up to now) so I'm so sorry for the delay ;______;

Anyways also why this story was kinda delayed in updating is because this story is formulated by my good friend ghelunni but she's not telling me the whole events of the story so I tried to think of some twists and turns on the story.

/crawls to my hiding place once more/
