While I still fully intend to find a route back home that'll give me the satisfaction of kicking Il-Re's ass before I go, I've gotta' say... I kind of like this place so-far. It has a sticky, grungy, disgusting kind of charm to it that's really grown on me, and there's something to be said for the stress relief you get from being able to just haul ( Read more... )

Awww, and its not even my birthday this time round, awesome!

It was a collective effort. But I'll mention that Near was surprisingly involved.

Do you want a hint? Or is it more fun for you to just find out when you get back?

Near?! Did someone slip him aphrodisiacs or something?

I want the hint! It might affect my travel time.

Yeah. No drugs involved. Granted, it was more a confession that he had a creepy obsession with me back home than anything else, but the point remains: I'm hot shit. Even if it's gross that it's Near who agrees.

Alright, a hint: The need for a hospitable couch will become even more pressing since you'll be spending a lot more time on the shitty one.

Magnum 44 cal revolver... I can get you one actually. Just don't get stupid about what it's size is okay? I think your ego is big enough there sir.

Orly? Zelda is her name, I've told you that like ten times now. But yeah, I'll start getting my shit together and ready to go but no so much so it looks suspicious. Just in case.

...A Magnum .44? I don't know if I'd have the heart to fuck up the calibrations on something that gorgeous, but yes you can feel free to hook me up.

[ Private to OU!Matt | Unhackable ]

Good. Mattie and I are gonna' head over there together and that should help us to cut-back on the likelihood that I'll be fucked over.

It would take less for you to go off bashing people's skulls in and all...

Ahkay... Good luck to you both then? I'll be waiting to hear how it goes.

Geez, I post too much! lawrsong March 7 2009, 02:27:38 UTC
You speak as though you know there is a route. I've lost many an hour of sleep worrying that we don't have a path and simply get dumped abruptly at someone's whim. I'd do anything to learn how to avoid returning, but I still know nothing, which means I have to deal with it nagging in the back of my mind all the time. I must be the only whore in history who *doesn't* have friends in high places, and therefore I know so little about the world outside the hotel. Very frustrating.

And so I'm not filling your journal with my whining, I hope fights are going well for you, despite the shortcoming of your weapon.

You'd do anything to avoid the return? It's true that the digs for your profession here are a lot nicer than anything I ever saw back in LA, but it's a little impressive to hear you say that you'd do anything to avoid returning.

-And I promise you, my weapon doesn't have any shortcomings.

You've got an ally in high places, Lawrence. If you want to have a tour of the outside world, you've got free time after work and my address on the digital system here.

Daww. Well I do try. lawrsong March 7 2009, 03:09:13 UTC
I would be disturbed by the way you said "anything" were I not basically doing that already. But yeah, there's nothing for me where I was. I won't throw out my sob story here, but suffice to say it was pretty horrible. Magnolia is Heaven in comparison simply by virtue of the fact that if I screw up within the course of my job the chances of me needing hospitalization for it are low. Yes, I'm obviously very easy to please, aren't I?

Free time? Try all but maybe four out of twenty-four hours. You have the exciting job. I appreciate your offer. I'm amazed at how many decent people I've found here. So if you ever find yourself with time to kill, I'd be glad to spend some of that with you. I'm sure we have quite a bit to talk about, even if our worlds aren't precisely the same.

You knew Rod Loss without having the luxury of being on the inside of his gang, and God knows that LA prostitutes at your age already have it hard... I'm not surprised that a simple lack of hospitalization threat is enough to make this place palatable. You've got a boss who's looking out for you, and you've made some suitable allies- if we find a route back to our homes, who knows? I'll see what can be done.

My schedule's fairly loose. All I need to do is keep up with my fight quota in Igura and other than that? I'm free to pursue my own ends.

I have to do some business meetings soon, and that might bring me to your doorstep. If all else fails, I'll pay for your time.

Charm, you say...? Judging by how you are enjoying yourself here, the place you come from must be Hell.

Have you ever tried using a baseball bat? A pipe? A parking meter?

It's a kind of hell, to be sure. But one can get used to anything with enough practice, don't you think?

A baseball bat or a pipe... seems a little inelegant, but effective. Especially if I'm getting the hang of the whole bash-and-dash thing in the battlegrounds. A parking meter kind of defeats the 'light enough that I won't get exhausted' clause, though. Is a parking meter no problem for you?

shatteredwoman March 8 2009, 12:39:44 UTC
Getting used to something isn't the same as finding it charming.

I didn't know you wanted to look classy while beating people up. A parking meter isn't light, but it's effective. If you're using it, a single blow will be enough to knock them out. Anyway, it depends on what kind of parking meter you are using. Some of them are not as heavy as the rest.

You're not in very good shape if hitting people tires you out.

If you really feel the urge for a new weapon though, blades usually take less effort than blunt force- especially if you know just where to cut~

I used to have what was, essentially, a rather high-paid desk job. I wasn't used to the amount of physical force it takes to crush a man's skull with the butt of a gun, but of course I'm getting the hang of it.

Blades sound promising... as long as close combat is the name of the game, it could be fun to see how I handle a blade.

Anatomical knowledge isn't a problem, trust me.

...how sad- and yet you chose this as your method of survival. It says something about your personality, at least.

Wakizashi aren't too long or too short if you want something quick and effective, though a kama on a chain would serve well for both long and short range, if you're willing to practice with it.

...good.

Something good I assume. The decisions that others make is nobody's business but their own, but personally... I figure there's more pride in refusing to bow to any superior.

In any event, I'll look into the wakizashi - I'm not writing off chain weaponry, but I recognize that a certain amount of training is involved in getting the hang of that... I'd rather not knock myself out or cut off my own hand.

You have a certain anatomical knowledge yourself, I trust? An intimate knowledge, if this profession's any indication. I've not been as hands-on in the past, but in the last few weeks I've learned some things about the human brain.
