Irony of credit ratings in US

I heard today from a cox executive that I should pay a security deposit for my internet connection because my credit rating is low. I usually pay the whole credit card bill on time and here are some reasons why my credit rating is low:

Do not apply for credit cards, rather ask the guys with whom you have a credit card to increase your limit. One other thing to note, you can make multiple payments in a payment period, so make payments with your credit card and make a payment to your credit card rather than making payments through your bank, this helps too.

And be patient your credit rating will increase just requires some time.

I called them many times and they wouldn't increase my limit. Looks like I should lie about my income to get a higher limit. Thanks for the other advice.
