So, my feelings on the show in general for a bit (half-last season through this last one, at least) have been lukewarm at best and it's mostly Jensen's shoulders that keep me coming back.

I know, it's ridiculous. The other day I was reading this article (to which I cannot link atm since I don't remember where I read it) about how Supernatural, in the grand scheme of things, was rather progressive in the way in which it portrays it's female characters (the majority of them, that is, those who aren't Jess and Mary, tho Mary did get some development in later seasons) with their own motivations, schemes, capabilities and stuff and while I agree, it still stings that all these motivations and schemes and capabilities get weighted in relation to how they affect the guys. It's just ridiculous. Obviously the article then went on to clarify that the point it was trying to make was more along the lines of the fact that this being considered progressive in our times is a pretty graphic description how deeply fucked up said times are. Which I also agree with.

If this show were on any other network station, these brothers would've outgrown it by nowEXACTLY! All these years and I've seen little to no growth at all. I feel betrayed ( ... )

This was well written. I haven't seen the last bit of season 6 yet. I agree with many of your points- especially the this laser-sharp focus that's constantly put on these guys and their suffering,/ I agree.

So glad I made myself clear, sometimes I just end up making a knot of yarn out of myself with these things...

It feels smothering to me, and the worst part is that I cannot even imagine what kind of pay-off to all this would be even remotely satisfactory.

What makes it weirder is the SPN Fanbase (from what I gather) is mostly female... mustbethursday3 May 22 2011, 09:54:19 UTC
I want Meg...was it? The demon who was last seen (that I can remember) in that ep when Crowley didn't die from Cas being BAMF - sidenote: I was quite annoyed when Crowley died, and yet MORE annoyed when he WASN'T DEAD...altho making Hell a waiting line that never ends, genius - ...Cas kissed her and the brothers's eyes just about fell out of their heads...

I want her back. Demons are more human and sarcastic than the Angels and they provide good banter...and is Chuck still kicking? And is next Season just going to be Dean talking Castiel off the roof...it's kinda gotten to Mr Burns blocking the sun proportions :\

Altho I think you're right, this has been building for Cas for a while, but is God going to actually show up...because THAT would be a pay off for this storyline.

Sam's self-reassembly was beautiful tho, except for the part where, of course, the girl was already fridged. Just in case. And since we're at it, let's get rid of the Dr. Sword in the Stone. And female!Raphael. To me it was Sam talking to Sam, Sam fighting/ ( ... )

Meg, yeah. She was actually brought back up after they realized what an awful mistake they'd made by killing her off in the first season finale. Honestly, I think she was the best antagonist they've had. Ruby comes a close second, but Meg was BOSS. She needs to come back and make out with Castiel some moreI agree, Demons, I guess having been human initially, have a better grasp of what's what and what makes people tick and how taunting works better than just looking down one's nose. Also their motivations are way more interesting and relatable (is that even a word? spell-check says no ( ... )
