[Day 13, 13:00]

Rage.

I can feel terror, as much from the troops behind me as the humans before me.

Arrow - left and up: a curl of earth and a scream as the archer has his ankles snapped by shifting rocks underfoot. Halberd - up and behind: a noose of air around his throat, pulling tight. The strain of keeping the flow of power and energy in balance takes all the concentration I can muster. The humans give ground grudgingly and I dare not risk a full-scale magical attack.

::Enough of this.::

Time to see if there is another Shinou. Nacht stops as I drop the reins and focus on the flow of energy around me. The humans's stones are irritations - ripples in the fabric of power. Disruptive ...and as easily tracked as a candle flame in the dark. My mind supplies the image of the power flows - the stones showing as 'dips' in the fabric of elemental power - and I mark the ones within my reach. There are four-no, five 'rock-throwers' within my shields and I reach out, threading tendrils of my own power through the matrix of the rock and into the minds of the fanatical fools who wield it.

Calm...clarity...precision.

The key to power is control. The first step to control is control of self. The power acts as conduit and I share a momentary flash of their thoughts. They are confident, cruel and foolish. Before they are aware of the contact, the knot of power snaps tight. I feel the first flare of terror, then the surge as the power equalizes with a snap - vaporizing the fools before they even know what's happening. Five pillars of light sear across the pale blue sky and the humans scream and scatter.

This finally breaks the human attack and the soldiers fall back towards their own lines. They are chased some of the way by the troops but the captains are already starting to bawl for their men to hold. There is no need for me, and Nacht turns obediently back towards the tent. I withdraw my senses back to here and now and blink as my vision glazes for a second.

::I will leave you for a time, von Khrennikov-san. We will need to meet later to discuss the counter-attack but I have other matters to see to.::

Leaving Nacht in the capable hands of one of the squires, I make my way clear of the clatter of other minds and take a deep breath, reaching out along the new sense of awareness.

::Alarik? Can you speak?::
