[Day 16, 11:00]The caravan is finally ready to leave. Every soldier not essential to the task of defending and rebuilding Khrennikov has been assembled to guard the prisoners and the wounded. I have reports, the lists of the fallen and their personal belongings which will be handed over to Alarik or his heir. Even with von-Khrennikov-san's

It has been many hours since Adelbert first laid eyes on the golden-haired man that is the Original King, and yet he still cannot believe that he is the real thing -- the legend -- fighting in battle, healing the wounded, walking the forests of Khrennikov. Alive. The spitting image of the portrait that has been hanging in Blood Pledge Palace as long as Adelbert can remember.
How can this be...?
He clenches the hilt of his sword in his right hand in a sudden fit of fury, the houseki set in the pommel burning against his palm. What sort of madness is this, coming back from the dead and pretending to be the people's hero? As if he hasn't ruined enough lives already. What is he playing at?!
Adelbert's jaw suddenly aches and he realizes he is gritting his teeth hard enough to break his jaw. That bastard! He cannot stand this! Those idiot demons, welcoming back one such as he because they could not fight for themselves. Accepting his power willingly out of fear. Doing his bidding without him having to utter a single word. Besides, the Dai Shimeron soldiers who aren't prisoners are probably desperately trying to find a way home. He doubts that they would dream of attacking him without some sort of commande-
That was houseki. His hands tighten on the reins as he straightens sharply and Nacht pauses obediently as Aki scans the forest, looking for some sort of sign that he's being watched. There's nothing immediately visible and he doesn't think there are any humans nearby...
Did I imagine it?

Easy.
That's his only thought as he leaps down from a low-lying branch. The man never sees it coming; as he turns to check behind him, Adelbert slams into the golden-haired monarch with all of his might. The Shinou lets out a pained noise of surprise and the two go tumbling off the startled horse into the underbrush.
Adelbert was prepared for the jump and manages to roll quickly to his feet, but the Shinou is taken totally off-guard. He lands hard on his back, the wind completely knocked out of him, gasping for air. In a split second Adelbert has him at swordpoint, houseki activated and glowing hotly in the sun-dappled forest light.
"Hah." Adelbert stares angrily down the length of his sword at the Original King's face. He smiles, but the expression does little to hide the righteous fury in his eyes. "Welcome back, Shinou-heika."

He is grateful that at least there's no-one else to see this little farce. Something to remember - being paranoid doesn't mean that there isn't someone out to get you. His maryoku is starting to stir but he holds off on unleashing such an obvious retaliation.
No need to waste the power. After all, he may not have an escort but he was hardly on his own.
Nacht huffs warningly from about two inches behind the blond hu-Mazoku(?)'s neck. As he glances back, the stallion rears, hooves threshing the air just above and around him. He jerks backwards, the tip of his sword drawing a thin crimson line across the skin of Aki's neck and Aki moves.
One hand knocks the blade aside as he rolls nimbly to his feet and catches the heavier blond's sword-hand by the wrist. His fingers lock in place and he smiles humourlessly. ::One warning, von Grantz-kyo. Drop your sword.::
