Drinking Vannila Latte.... And a movie Review

I watched Alexander yesterday with YS at One U. I'd give it a 6 out of 10, for the stunning FX and Collin Farrel in a miniskirt throughout the show...

But there were gaping inconsistencies throughout the show. In my opinion, the film didn't do mych justice to the real Alexander. Maybe I'm just prejudiced by the historical incorrectness of the whole thing.

And don't get me started on how they made Alexander gay. No, I'm not a bigot or anything. I adore shonen-ai, but watching Colin Farell kiss that man on screen... That kiind of creeped me out. For a moment, my shallow mind screamed out: Why are all the Hot guys GAY?!? Or in the case of Alexander, he was portrayed as someone who swing both ways. And Jared Leto died in the end. Bah.

I liked Angelina Jolie's role in the film. She was indeed the vengeful, scheming Olympia to the max. I think if it wasn't for her role in the film, I would have written it off as crap. Like, when she hired the guard to kill Philip (and there was another yaoi scene where Philip's murder was concerned. Don't ask. And I used to adore Val Kilmer at one point.

But to give credit where its due: the battle scenes. Yes, that was something worth watching. It looked very real, and the way the priests sacrificed the bull before the Macedonians went to war with the Persians. Not to mention all that blood and gore in their last battle in India. Elephants and all that. YS was going; oh no, those poor elephants! throughout that scene. And the costumes, were lavish. Especially Babylon and the costumes of Darius's harem. Hm. Bellydancers and all that...

Other than that, I think that Alexander is the type of show that I'd like to watch once only at the cinema and that's it. I don't think I'll be getting the DVD anytime soon.
