Character name: Canada (I don't anticipate using his alias of Matthew Williams, but who knows.)
Fandom: Axis Powers Hetalia
Timeline: Present day
Age: Looks to be 20 (Is actually 144, but that's young compared to other countries) 1 birthday on the Thor
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths:
He doesn't like it, but Canada has a tendency of being quite unnoticeable - to the point of being invisible - to others. The others will sometimes notice a ghost-like presence or will reply absently to Canada's remarks, but will react with terrified surprise when they finally really do notice him.

On the other hand, Canada is often mistaken for his brother America. Usually Canada is on the receiving end of some sort of violence due to a grudge being held against America.

He has the unique talent of being able to talk with a polar bear named Kumajirou. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that they communicate well to each other. The bear often forgets who Canada is, and in return Canada cannot remember the bear's proper name.

How would they use their abilities?:
Being invisible is good for staying out of trouble. (Unless someone has a grudge against America, then it gets him in to trouble.) Maybe it would be good for getting a job where being unnoticeable is a good thing, for a change.

As for speaking with Kumajirou, from time to time he does give good advice, but mostly the bear is just an annoyance that Canada wouldn't be without.

Appearance:
Canada is of a fairly average build and height at 177cm (or 5'9”) like his brother. Not having the strength of him, however, Canada's build is a bit more slender. His hair is dark blond and the bangs are long, parted down the middle to either side of his face. One long lock of hair curls out in the front. He has dark blue eyes and wears thin wire glasses.

In present day he likes to wear hoodies and jeans or a white dress shirt. In an attempt to assert his identity as Canada, his clothing sometimes sports the maple leaf. In meetings he wears a suit with a red tie. Kumajirou is ever with him.

Background/Personality:
A long time ago, Canada was an adventurous child. Tirelessly he would explore the wilds of the land about him, relishing in their bounty and beauty. Even then he was known for his kindness, quietness and hospitality. France and England were the two people most involved in his development at that time, fueling Canada's growth through colonization and trade. England eventually took possession of young Canada and introduced him to America, who grew bored of Canada just moments after meeting him. (Their relationship has been something like that ever since.)

The rivalry between France and England continued in the new world and revolution brewed not only in what was to become America, but cast a pallor of discontent upon Canada as well. The two young countries grew up very quickly, but in different ways. Where America fought a war to win his independence, Canada sought to peaceably settle his way through it.

After many years Canada finally came into his own as a country, albeit still under England's dominion. But Canada didn't mind it very much at all, and for a very long time thought of himself as primarily British. This was much to France's disappointment, but Canada still retains lots of French heritage and language. And he inherited his silky hair, which helps France be one of the few that actually can recognize Canada. (To this day the tension between the English and French gives Canada angst in the form of Quebec versus 'everyone else'.)

Finally Canada decided to start asserting himself as uniquely Canadian, but perhaps it was too late. All of the other nations forget about him easily and rarely notice him when he's in the room. When some do notice him, it's often because of a grudge that they are holding against America. When Canada can finally get the other person to realize that he's not America, Canada is very forgiving, except to promise himself that he'll tell his grievance to America next time... He rather resents taking the beats for his brother's carrying a big stick and antagonizing others so easily.

Canada is a very timid and sensitive guy. He hates fighting and has trouble asserting himself or speaking his mind. He's content to patently wait his turn to be called upon in meetings, however his patience is never rewarded and his turn never comes. Another example of his vast patience is in his dealings with America. His brother is his neighbor and he tries very hard to get along with him. He even has received good advice on rare occasion. It just doesn't help that America intimidates the heck out of poor Canada without trying.
In many situations Canada is very agreeable, going with the flow very easily - particularly if the flow is directed by someone he's a bit intimidated of. He's also prone to say 'sorry' for just about anything.

Underneath this soft and kind exterior is a long-suffering passive-aggressive. He once made America cry by bringing up every bad thing his brother ever did over the course of three hours. He often shows spurts of resolve - to tell America off or to get England to properly recognize him, but he always gives it up in the end...

Finally, he is a lover of maple syrup and ice cream. Yum.

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yes! FlamingFerret (poor creature). Earning Money 101: earn via missions, beg, borrow, or steal. (Canada won't have it in him to steal money, although that would be funny.)

1st person sample:
[When the feed comes on, there's nothing really noticeable about who is transmitting. Your eye might slide right past him. You might think it's a ghost. Or you just might realize... it's a young man.]

Kumamomo, please. I have to read the directions.

[A white muzzle comes into frame as a bear in the person's lap looks up.] “...Who are you?”

Canada. Your owner, you know? [His patient, soft voice takes on an edge of excitement.] Oh, transmitting, eh? In video? [Canada gives a tiny, experimental wave.] Um, hello. I'm sorry, but if it's not too much trouble, would someone be able to help orient me, please? I have a map here somewhere... [rustles through a handful of papers] ...but perhaps it's better just to ask. I'm sure I went back to fill out a form for that...

3rd person sample:
“Say, Kumairo?”

“...Who?”

Canada looked up from the newspaper to frown slightly at the polar bear. “It's Canada, you know?”

“...” Kumajirou looked back at him blandly.

“Anyways, look at this!” His soft voice filled with excitement, Canada held up the newspaper for the bear to read the headline: 'Cows' selected as best ice cream in the world. “I didn't know that those islanders had it in them! We now have the best ice cream in the world. Do you think the others will notice me now?” He grinned happily, imagining even Germany coming to try world famous Canadian ice cream.

“Do the others even like ice cream?”

“Eh? You think some don't? But doesn't everyone like ice cream, even just a little bit?”

“Mmm,” the bear said noncommittally, glancing away. (He hadn't said that they didn't.)

“Really.” With a sigh Canada put the newspaper down. Perhaps Kumajirou was right. It wouldn't do to get his hopes up too high. Or be too proud. But this was pretty cool news. After a moment his face broke into a bright smile again. “I know! I'll tell Cuba about it. He likes ice cream for sure. I'll invite him, in return for that vacation from a while ago.”

Kumajirou blinked at Canada. He decided to not bring up the fact that the holiday was in return for Cuba beating Canada up, so he owed Cuba nothing. Nor did he mention that Cuba was very likely to just mistake his master for America yet again. Rather he said, “Hey, I'm hungry.”

“Oh, sorry. Of course, I'll bring you too.”
