Pfft! This type of stuff just is insane. Exactly as you said. It is normal. And hey there is nothing wrong with seeing a aerola. Really, people are starting these arguements about beliefs and the like all the time now. It is just dumb. Thanks for sharing that, shall go read up on it more! *grin*

While I have no idea what the breastfeeding contingent has done (or not done) in response to all this - I am completely nauseated by the neanderthal position of people equating breastfeeding with something sexual just because mammary glands are involved.

They are there to feed - that is their biological function.

Yo, J, you're alive!

And hahaha! Breasts! BREASTS!! Now seriously, I have seen userpics of men hanging out their weewee's and making poppets out of them, animations of kids coming out of a woman's fanny, HUNDREDS OF GAY MEN GETTING THEIR HOLY FREAK ON.

But breasts?

Hahahah, they're made of the crazies! There are no BOOBIES on LJ!

'xept for in my icon. OHNOES, now the LJ police will come and BUST my disrespectful ass! SIGH. I KNEW I should've used the icon of the nekkid men from brokeback mountain.

This is a weird situation. While I think on LJ, people can choose whatever they want for a default icon, because in the end, I can't stop anyone from posting extreme violence, sexual graphics, breastfeeding, etc. images.

But in public (I know you didn't touch upon this on your post), I think moms should probably try to find a private area to breastfeed. I don't know, that seems to be a very personal thing (vs. taboo of showing a breast) that I personally couldn't do with people walking by.
