A/N : I wrote this as if Changmin and HyunA didn't know each other before. Also, the shows: Music Bank (08/04; 22/04) and Music Core (09/04; 23/04).
He had seen her several times on different shows but they were never formally introduced. He hadn't even really paid attention to her -except in that video where she’s dancing wearing jean overalls, then silver shorts and then white fur and of course that black skirt. He only knows her name -and that her comeback was today- but that’s all, he doesn’t know much about her.
She really wasn’t expecting to see him perform the same day as her. No, she’s not the type to follow his band’s news. She never really paid attention to him -just watched some lives here and there, and some other videos. She only knows his name -and that he was coming today- but that’s all, she doesn’t know much about him.
Another show. He was starting to get tired, but for some unknown reason he was looking forward for this one. It’s another Music Bank, just like any other, his leader told him, raising his eyebrow. Shrugging, he ignored his friend’s statement with a wave of his hand as they finally arrived at the building. He let out a sigh and walked through the familiar hallways, bowing to some bands, his eyes already scanning the place.
The day before, she had a hard time trying to get some sleep, it was odd. It’s another Music Bank, just like any other, her inner voice would tell her. Still, she was more anxious than usual. Shaking her head, she followed her members into the show’s building, heading to the box. She met some artists in her way, greeted them politely, her mind already wondering why she seemed so excited.
There she is, he thought all of a sudden when he happened to recognize her silhouette a few meters away. Still following his friend’s steps, he smiled at the MCs he met, even though he wasn’t focused anymore. He bowed, trying to hide his smile when her group approached them. It lasted two seconds and she was gone. She seemed so close yet so far from him.
Lifting her head, she widened her eyes for a second when she saw him. There he is, was all that she could think. Her mind was still blank; it really was him. She gave him and his fellow band member a light smile while bowing, she wasn’t expecting to come this close to him before the show. Their moment was too good to last, and before she knew it, he was already gone. He seemed so close yet so far from her.
He may be biased, but she was gorgeous, especially with that long black hair. Not that he knew how she looked like before, but he thought it suited her more. On the other hand, she was still thinking about how handsome he was. She never doubted he was, though. They both were looking forward for their performance. They went to their own dressing rooms, finally getting ready for this Music Bank, which was just like any other.
Her Mirror Mirror performance was really something he couldn’t miss. Maybe he wouldn’t want to admit it, but he had watched the music video before and thoroughly enjoyed it -especially the kneeling part (he’s a guy after all). He needed to see it with his eyes. Fortunately for him, she gave her best in the show, shaking her hips as usual, making his heartbeat increase.
Deep inside her, she wished him to sing Before U Go. For some reason she really liked the dance, maybe because of the way he moved his hand down to his torso, though she would certainly not confess to such dirty thoughts. Attending the show, close enough to the stage, she wasn’t disappointed at all, it was totally worth the wait.
They both couldn’t wait for Music Core the day after. See you tomorrow, they thought, smiling inside.
This time, he wondered if he would be able to say two or three words to her, even if it’s just greetings. She also wanted to talk to him but didn’t know yet if she would utter a word in front of him. The next show would be the same as the day before but still, they couldn’t miss each others' performances -the kneeling part and the hand’s move.
He finally gained courage at the end of the show to head towards her and bow. Annyeong haseyo, he said while introducing himself. Annyeong haseyo, she replied shyly, imitating him. Few words exchanged, yet they seemed elated. She couldn’t help thinking how charismatic he was while he was replaying her voice in his head. They already wanted to appear on another show together soon.
Wish granted; two weeks later 4minute and TVXQ were invited once again to Music Bank, and to Music Core the day after. They couldn’t wait. It was like seeing the other via videos and such wasn’t enough for them, they just had to see each other in person for their needs to be fulfilled. Since they were both busy with their schedule, they didn’t pay attention to time and before they knew it, it was already the d-day.
He couldn’t get enough of her performance; it was as if he was mesmerized by her every move. Shaking his head, he pondered about talking to her again. He had to; it was driving him crazy. For this show, he knew he would appear at the end to sing Keep Your Head Down and Rising Sun, he had time to approach her in between. She just had to finish and he would consider chatting with her.
On the stage, she was too focused to think about something else even if they had performed Mirror Mirror for almost a month now, every week. It was at the end of the song that her mind drifted back to him. She couldn’t help it, it was driving her crazy. A few minutes later, after being taken care by the staff for any make up touch ups, she saw him walking towards her. Unconsciously, she gulped.
“Annyeong haseyo Hyuna-sshi,” he said, bowing at her.
“Annyeong haseyo Changmin-sshi,” she murmured, blushing.
“I… like what you do.”
“Dancing, right?” she teased him.
“… Yes,” he finally admitted, embarrassed, there was no need to hide it anymore.
“Yeah, I get that a lot,” she smirked and left when of her members appeared and called for her.
He stayed there, stunned by her attitude, slowly smiling. Their interaction was something he had looked for and it was worth it. He wasn’t expecting her to tease him, he felt great. He was kind of surprised that for their first chat she seemed that familiar and informal with him, not that he minded. Still smiling, he went to his leader, replaying her words in his mind, impatient to see her the day after.
Frowning all the way, she couldn’t believe what she had said to him. She didn’t want to but her words slipped, talking to him as if they were already friends. Facepalming, she let out a sigh, recalling about her behaviour. At that moment, she just hoped he wouldn’t think badly of her, that was the most important thing. Even if she was apprehensive, she couldn’t wait to see him the day after, and maybe even talk to him again.
She had talked to him, but he knew that it didn’t mean that she would be fine with him flirting with her. Yes, he was already thinking about flirting, he had to try his luck. He had nothing to lose, after all. She already knew he enjoyed her dancing… Groaning loudly, he scratched his head, anxious yet eager to see her today -the last day, he thought- at Music Core.
She needed to see him and to apologize for her attitude, she couldn’t stop thinking about her fail. What if he refused to speak with her? She was expecting it though she knew she needed to fix things either way, it had really been driving her insane. Carefully waiting in the hallway, she was scanning the place, trying to recognize him among all those people. About five minutes later, he entered with his bandmate. It was now or never.
Greeting everyone once they went into the building, he widened his eyes when he saw her walking towards him. That was quite unexpected. Glancing at Yunho who was talking with someone, he heard her greet him and mouth something like Can I talk to you for a sec’? Widening his eyes but not enough for her to notice, he followed her, confused but happy inside.
“I... I owe you an apology for yesterday. I… don’t know why I acted this way,” she confessed, looking away.
“I don’t understand,” he tilted his head a bit, raising an eyebrow.
“I acted like a cocky bitch while I shouldn’t have-”
“I don’t mind,” he smirked. “I liked it.”
Taken aback, she stared at him, knowing it was her turn to speak but unable to utter a word. Standing up after leaning on the wall, he murmured in her ear, making her shiver.
“Hyuna-sshi, do I have to wait for another show to have your number?”
THE END
