So tired of this crap

Since the election, I've read plenty of excuses by the GOP and Romney's camp. Today there's a story that Obama bought minority votes with gifts in the budget. Lots of voters want the government to do something for them, including those nice people who paid $50k a platter to go to Romney fundraisers.

Aside from sounding like sour grapes and looking small, complaining that people who don't vote for you must have been bought off isn't a very good way of winning them back to your side. As long as blocs of voters get the impression that you don't care about or respect their opinions, wants and values -- let alone talk about them as if they are illegitimate or not "really american" -- it will be very hard to earn their votes.

It's kind of amazing that a party that used that awareness (remember Reagan Democrats) to gain power has ignored the lesson when it applies to them.

I know, the two facedness just kills me sometimes. That and the way it seems easier for them to blame the voters and the other party instead of looking to what they're doing wrong.

I really would like a 3rd party, I keep hoping a strong one will surface someday.

I agree with you that the GOP's stance on social issues cost them a lot of votes, particularly women's votes, but if I had to point to the one comment that pushed Romney to defeat, it's the one about not giving a rat's arse about the 47% of Americans who don't pay taxes. Great way to show the people you care!

I think Mitt's comment on the 47% was not too smart of him, and I think it was not exactly what he meant to say. I think anyway.

I think he was talking about the portion that just wants to live life sucking off the government and not trying to do anything any differently.

I'm part of the 47% that doesn't pay taxes, tho I do work and it might be nice to be a real taxpayer someday. But I get $0 from the government and I'm not looking for a handout.

Still, was not the best thing to say EVER. None of them care about us, not until we start voting them out of office.
