mine did that for a while too. one of two things might work.
1. Let the battery die, and when you recharge it and turn it on again, it might just not happen anymore
or
2. Reinstall the software from your PC. It came with some thingie that lets you "Restore" the iPod. It will blank it out, but you can always put your music back on it from iTunes anyway.
