A while ago :) It is interesting and different, though I like those weird youth fantsy books. Garth Nix is another great author if you haven't come across him already, Sabriel is a great book

I've heard good things about Nix, as well. I enjoyed the Golden Compass, particularly toward the end, but it was just such a slow start and I was so bored with it for awhile. But absolutely LOVE the idea that every human has a daemon. =) I want my own, too... haha... thanks for the recommendations
