I don't want to spoil a good story (or an important dilemna) with too much exposition. But I'm attending the Non-Profit Technology Conference (NTC) today and tomorrow, and this yeqar it's weirdly in DC, my home town. sessions are interesting, etc. The important part is thqat after the conference today there were a bunch of parties. But seriously... damn, that was serious. Honestly though, I don't think what you said was a bad answer. Especially if his options are shoot or be shot.

Absolutely that was the right answer, because the kid is the one who will have to live with the choices he's made, and in the position he's in, he can't rely on the advice-giver or anyone else to be the grownup. Horrible as it is, he has to be the grownup now, as much as anyone ever will, and what you told Sam to do is all you really can truly do for another independently functioning person.

It makes me so sad, this kid. Child soldiers as an issue have always driven me especially crazy, it's just such a purely evil thing to force children to kill.

It is the right answer. Ultimately we all have to make our own decisions, what we need is someone to listen to us and help us either accept or push away whatever our decision brings us.
