being screwed out of Pennsic by work

So I have hit the last straw with my current job. I am being screwed over with my vacation time. I was all happily preparing to go to Pennsic the first week of Aug. when my boss just informed me I couldn't go because I took last week off. She never gave me the choice of which week I could be gone, never said anything about not being able to be gone ( Read more... )

That really blows, I'm sorry. If they didn't say anything when they approved your requests they are TOTALLY in the wrong...

I wish I knew of a position for you, but I sure don't. I got this gig via Jeannelle Kantz at Accentuate Staffing and she's done well by me. If you give her a call please tell her I referred you.

Don't suppose you could take a copy of the approved original request for August to HR and raise a fuss? I assume you've already registered (well, you'd have to by now for Pennsic as registration closed a while ago). If I'd been approved and made reservations and spent money and then they come along and say "oh, nope, now you can't go" I'd raise a fuss w/HR.

unfortunatly my boss never actually signs approval for time off so I have nothing to show HR :(

I'm meeting John for gym time tonight, so I'll have him look over the openings on UNC's internal site. How up-to-date is your resume? Send over the current copy and what changes you want made to it, and John can have it UNC-ready by the end of the week.

I know we are hiring a "temp" to perm position through tar-heel temps. I know your good with customer service (60%) of our job here but you don't have a whole lot of technical skills (40%) of our job.. but we could get you trained up to spec. I think you would need to apply through tar heel temps. The position is in ITS with the Help desk and the Hiring Manager is Ingrid Camacho. I'll try and find out some more information for you.

Send me your resume and I can forward it to my boss. I explained that you have a lot of customer service experience and are a competent computer user. I know you are not a geek like us but the position I have in mind is more customer service than anything else. Let me know. I can't guarantee you being able to get pennsic off, but it may be possible based on the manner in which they are recruiting.
