This was a truly lovely read. I probably should not admit this, but Remus/Severus is not my favorite pairing, but you wrote them so beautifully, I found myself really liking it. It felt very real, and was done without the easy-to-fall-into cliché trap of hate!sex.

I loved your Remus here. He was strong and strong-willed, and a very realistic portrait of a kind human being who suffered immensely without every wallowing in self-pity. It was that quite strength that I admired most. His thoughts on werewolves and the idea of a “monster” at the end were truly genius.

His relationship with Dora was dealt with cleverly and beautifully, too. The actual reason was that he never thought about fathering a child. He did not think that he would have been a bad father; he just did not want to commit in that way to a woman whom he did not love. Of course it was cowardice to run from the problems he had caused himself, but really, Remus could not solve anything by staying home with Dora. Harry did not understand what it was to be stuck with a

Wow. This is just so wonderful. I loved that the story spanned over a lifetime for the pair and the many interactions between them you chose to write -- canon and original -- which were edited in a completely interesting and meaningful way. Watching their relationship progress -- from bad to good to bad to good -- was just lovely.

Also, thank you for not making Tonks a baddie!

Secondly, it was a pleasant surprise how you chose to begin their relationship after the shrieking shack incident. Many of the MWPP era stories I've read between the Snupin pairing usually take place prior to the incident, and while they have all been uniquely lovely in their own way, I admit it was so refreshing that you chose to begin their relationship with Snape fully knowing what Remus was

I also like these kinds of stories where years go by and relationships change. I’m so glad you enjoyed it too! I think Tonks is an awesome character and it would probably kill my soul a bit to make her a baddie. She’s already too often bashed in fics; I don’t need to do it too. ;)

Hee! I know, I’ve also read those stories. But this fic wasn’t so much about misunderstanding; this was about hurting someone you love and forgiveness, so I found starting this after the incident was actually my only possibility if I didn’t want to play out the usual “you and Black tried to kill me, I hate you both” scenario. And I really didn’t. Those stories are lovely but as you said, change is sometimes refreshing.

I’m happy you liked the characters. I love these boys/men, so it’s nice when somebody else sees them the same way I do. :)

Oh very nice! I enjoyed reading the progression of the relationship from school to the adulthood. I did get teary-eyed in a few spots!
