The end is in sight, finally

Dec 01, 2003 21:01

I cannot possibly say how relieved I am that the Christmas hols are in less than three weeks now. We can finally stop worrying about these rediculous love potions. According to Hugh, there was even at least one girl after me, which is of course absolutely silly; I can't possibly imagine why they even notice me when I spend most of my time with ( Read more... )

I sent you guys up some food-- rather a lot of Sugar Quills from the last Hogsmeade visit. I should hope you'd trust food from me, at least. I'm feeling rather sorry for you and Sirius (and even James) right now; this whole thing is utterly ridiculous. Hopefully this will all die down before Christmas and I can stay here for part of the break ( ... )

Can't say I'm happy about this. I mean, one cute cat is bad enough, but a whole load of them, especially if they like me, is probably going to be fatal. At least, will be, if what everyone is telling me is true about girls and cats and things. Minda, that was just a theory, right? About Taliesin and Mouse having kittens?

It's "ridiculous," "aforementioned," "soothe" (if you use it in that context, anyway), and "enlist."

Er. Sorry. I'm a bit of a perfectionist sometimes.

Speaking of which, I for one would appreciate the study sessions, because although I'm not taking the O.W.L.s, I would like to get some info ahead of time...and as I might have mentioned, I'm aiming for prefect next year, in which case I may want all the preparation I can get beforehand. And because I'm not too good with new people and you're not quite as new as some. I mean, you at least I know a bit, and I would probably be more comfortable asking you questions than most other students in your position.

And I'm sorry you're allergic to Mouse. There might be something you or she could take for it, I suppose. I've heard of such things, but I'm not entirely sure if they work.

I would also like to be a part of this study group along with Chaeyz, mainly for the same reasons (aside from the purpose of aiming for a prefect position; I don't intend to hope for the hopeless). If it's perfectly alright that under-aged students are allowed to take part in the study sessions, it sounds lovely. Certainly so, seeing as I will be hear for the holiday.
But I didn't know that you were staying, Chaeyz. For what reason, this time? My parents are off somewhere in the Americas during the time, and would rather I not attend with them.

Truly,

Well, the official reason is that I need to use the library, but the basic truth is that Joanie (my baby sister) is not getting any less annoying just because it's Christmas. Plus she's sick, so she'll be twice as annoying as usual, and besides, there's no way I'll be able to do any work at home, is there?

That was my argument, anyway. Really, I just can't deal with small children, especially not when there's work to be done. (But pretty much all the time anyway.)

Jenyae, I have a question for you. I would ask you this in person, but I haven't seen you in the corridors recently, and my owl is out delivering another letter of a rather personal nature. So, here it is.

Are you the one who adhered me to that chair? Because, if you are, I am going to save all those little punishments I was saving for Moony and give them to you. Merry Christmas! I really need to do something to show my holiday spirit, and it wouldn't hurt to have some new decorations for the Great Hall, I was thinking along the lines of rude phrases flashing along the twelve Christmas trees, what do you think, Padfoot?

Well, if I'm here, I could probably use more tutoring in Defense Against the Dark Arts. In fact, I can definitely say that I'm developing a thirst for knowledge these days. Or maybe--thanks to Diotima, Josh and Hester--it's just a thirst for survival.

I honestly don't know if I'm going to be here or not. I do know that Emma's Quidditch team is going to be in Ireland over the hols. I'll probably be passing around Holyhead Harpies' paraphernalia in the next few weeks. All autographed, if I know my sister.

That's not really the issue, though. The last couple of letters from my brother Walter and my father have been...odd. Studiously NOT saying quite a lot, if you know what I mean. I checked with Cedric, and he's been getting similar messages. With stern instructions from my mother to look after "the baby." Not that I mind Cedd watching my back, but--HONESTLY, Mum. Did you have to put it that way ( ... )

That's quite odd, your letters from the family. I don't think my dad's very keen on me coming home either, but my mom's all for it; she loves cooking for a crowd and after all I'm the family member who's gone AWOL. She's a Muggle, and was rather put out at first when she learned Hogwarts was a boarding school.

Not to mention my older sister, who's also a Muggle, thinks I'm a pretentious brat and "father's favorite." My younger sister, who judging by some of her "accidents" over the past few years, has inherited the magical talent, thinks we're both the bees' knees and gets all waily when Cathy and I fight.

And Remus, I don't really need study hall normally, but if I do end up staying I hope you wouldn't mind me hanging about; there's little else to do.

I got back at Jenyae!

Let's just say that she was minorly confused today when her cauldron kept emptying itself when she turned her back. Merry Christmas, Jenyae! It took forever to find your cauldron, but I finally got it from a very reliable source who shall remain nameless. Don't worry, none of the ingredients went anywhere dangerous, in fact, they never left your supplies. They simply replaced themselves into their separate pouches, although something a little more dangerous would have been more interesting, I am on the thinnest of thin lines with McGonagall right now. She has threatened to expel me if I get into any more real trouble, so I am going to have to be on my toes for a while, or at least until I can get into my files and erase some of my more...er...embarassing antics ( ... )
