Author's Note: Feedback or concrit always greatly appreciated. Oh and Lily's definitely the one driving. James driving would be way too OOC. Sorry there was no space to mention it ^_^
For weeks, Lily had wanted to see a Muggle movie they’d just released at the local drive-in and James thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate her seventeenth birthday. That morning, he’d prepared a small cupcake for her, writing her name in his messy scrawl over the top in red icing and surrounding it with a big, lumpy heart.
He Apparated to her doorstep at nine o’clock and she quietly sneaked out in a pretty teal sundress, a golden scarf wrapped around her neck. The car roared loudly as they took off, tires squealing on the rough pavement.

Lily’s eyes lit up when he started to sing “Happy birthday Lily” softly into her ear, stretching out the last syllable of her name atrociously on the third repetition. She laughed, kissing him soundly on the cheek. Making a wish, she blew the candle on the cupcake. The smoke clouded the car, slowly rising and disappearing into nothingness.
As Lily laid her head on his shoulder, James thought that perhaps this would be one of the last moments they’d spend together in complete bliss, especially with the looming war in the Wizarding World.
Secretly, he didn’t want it to end.
