“Reruns,” Lily muttered as she lay on the couch, head resting on James’ chest. The black-and-white image on the television screen of a woman, ringlets neatly held up by an inordinate number of bobby pins, appeared; only to be replaced by a heart, on which invisible hands wrote I Love Lucy in impeccable cursive.
“I Love Lucy?” James read, frowning. “I reckon it should’ve been Lily. Fits a whole lot better.”
Lily rolled her eyes. “Well maybe you should create your own show on the telly. All you need is a bit of training in Muggle tech and you’re all set. James, I’m going to change the channel because I’ve seen this show millions of times and…”
“No!” James interrupted, grabbing her by the waist, hindering her passage to the buttons on the television frame. “I want to see I Love Lucy! Lucy, Lucy, Lucy. Doesn’t have the same ring to it as Lily, Lily, Lily,” he added unnecessarily, stroking her hair.
“Marry me,” he added, after a few moments of silence.
Lily laughed. “You’ve gone mad, Potter.”
“I Love Lily, don’t you see? It’ll be our own little sitcom,” he said, gaze intent. “What do you say?”
