“Marlie” is a nickname that only friends and family can use for all others she insists they call her by her full name Marlene.
“Mud-blood” is something that she hears often from those who think they are better then her because of their pure blood.
“Shorty” people who don’t know her by name usually call her this since she is only 5”2.

Marlene has brought a small, grey, white, and black cat with her to Hogwarts that she has named Cow for both her eating habits and her black and grey spots.
Likes:
Remus Lupin - She has had her sights set on him for a few years now but just can’t pick up enough confidence to tell him.
Swimming in the lake - What could be better then a swim in the lake while everyone else is in bed sleeping.
Divination - She doesn’t like the class but she does love studying and practicing it in her own spare time.
Dislikes:
History of magic - The only class she hasn’t passed with flying colors because she can’t stay awake for more then five minutes.
Thunderstorms - She has never been able to deal with loud noises very well and you combine this with flashing bolts of dangerous lightening it becomes her worst nightmare.
The Grim - She saw him outside her dorm window one night during her second year under the full moon heading to the whomping willow. The next day she woke up to an owl from her parents telling her that her muggle grand-parents had died that night in a fire. The cause of that fire is still unknown to this day.
Hobbies:
Tarot Reading - A skill she has been trying to master for the past month.
Reading - Other than reading just for homework Marlene reads for her own enjoyment. She reads everything from her small collection of muggle books to the ones located in the library on the skill of occlumency which she wishes to someday master.
Photography - She uses both a magical and a muggle camera. If you ever went through her dorm room you’d find at least six scrap books from each year she has been at Hogwarts with pictures that move and one that don‘t. She only frames pictures that don’t move and puts them on her nightstand since the moving ones creep her out when they are constantly staring at her.
Playing Chess - Taught by her grand-father Tobias McKinnon Marlene has become quite skilled at chess. She has yet to find someone who can beat her more then once because that’s all it takes for her to learn their playing style and techniques.
Personality:
Marlene is a rather naïve and innocent person often unaware of the impact she makes on other people’s lives by what she says and does. She has been known to be very impulsive with her decisions and tends to jumps in head first without thinking about the consequences until it has all been said and done.
Once she realizes she has been thoughtless or impolite to someone she care about she will feel bad and hold herself responsible for her actions and won’t let herself off the hook even if the person has forgiven her until she feels she has made it up to them.
Marlene is not open to sharing her innermost thoughts and feelings with others, even with those she is close to, which is why she is keen on learning occlumency.
Still she is awful at keeping a straight face and people can usually tell straight away how she is feeling.
Defining Qualities: Doesn’t take her school work lightly, studies a lot on subject to do with divination, friendly even to people from Slytherin.

Marlene isn’t considered overly beautiful but most will agree that she is pretty with her honey brown eyes and straight, light brown hair. She has a petite figure that she has kept in shape with playing as a chaser on the Gryffindor quid ditch team. She is considered short for her age standing only 5”2.

History:
Marlene McKinnon comes from a Scottish, pure blood family that resides Edinburgh, Scotland. The McKinnons are known to be strict at following wizard tradition so when Marlene’s parents became pregnant with her with outside of wed lock and her mother being a muggle born witch there was a major uproar among the McKinnons.
The McKinnons after much debate saw to it that their son Augustus and Amelia were married before the baby was born so it wouldn’t be considered a bastard and have a scandal on their hands.
Once they were married they decided to move out of Scotland and moved to a small but cozy house located just outside London, England where Augustus got a job at the Ministry in the Accidental Magic Reversal Department and Amelia became a medi-witch for St. Mungo’s Hospital.
Her family was not surprised when Marlene received her Hogwarts acceptance letter.
There was even a party thrown for her where she received her first wand which had been a McKinnon family tradition for generations. The only thing that was different about this Hogwarts acceptance party from the past ones thrown was that not many of the pure bloods families showed up that normally did in the past.
Writing Samples:
Marlene watched in horror as the potion she had been working on started to billow smoke and catch on fire. She could never have imagined that just by adding to much of the dragon heart would have such a negative reaction on this potion. She had merely just been trying to show her partner that he had been wrong about her measurement skills and that she never added to little… well in a way she did prove him wrong about that. She didn’t add less then the potion required but added what it required and then some.
She could tell by how her potion master was walking over to them and glaring at her that she lost Gryffindor some points and earned herself at least two days worth of detention.
She knew Snape would probably get off easily being the Professor’s favorite pupil and all.
“ Snape I swear I’ll hex you into obliviation if you dare tell me anything along the lines of ‘told you so’.” Was all she could say when she saw him start to say something.
