[That, he figures, is his best chance at getting Sirius not to go. Harry could really use them both right now. But having neither would be too harsh...

James probably wouldn't go, of course, couldn't just leave his son hanging. But then again, there was Lily, and Remus...

Merlin, this was not a happy choice to have to make.]

...Most fights, mate, I'd say be all in. But with how things have been round here... think it might make everyone feel a bit better if you didn't go dashing into battle.

[There would be a bit of a wait before James bothered to respond. Most of the wait was to do with figuring out if he felt like responding. Half of him said 'bugger that, if he wanted to bloody check in he could have well done so by not popping off like an arse', while the other half gingerly tried to remind the first half that this was his best mate, he should be understanding, he should want to check in back to make sure Sirius hadn't gotten himself blown up. And that now was a really good time to have a best mate handy.

Still, James can't quite bring himself to want to chat, so the reply Sirius gets is via text.]

Considering what?

I'm still here, 'looking after everyone', as suggested. But 'everyone' has dwindled to mostly meaning 'Remus.'

I'm fine.

Harry's run away. [He noticed the choice things missing from his son's room; his son included.]

Lily's gone.

And my best mate gave me a notification that he had other places to be.

That leaves Remus, and I think Izzy has him covered.

[It's rare enough for James not to joke, much less to sound pessimistic at any turn. Even though it was only through text, it was obvious enough that James was upset. And not just because of Sirius.]
