I've a gizmo account too, mostly on account of the nice integration with my Nokia E61. Still, while most of us don;t have an over abundance of public IP addresses, IAX makes a very nice protocol from an end-user point of view.
I'm not sure gizmo will talk IAX, but Free World Dialup certainly does, and they peer with the gizmo project.
My problem last week with gizmo was I directed one number to rng the house phones, call my cell and simultaneously ring my gizmo account - unfortunately if I'm not logged in, it would answer and send the call to voicemail. If I turn off voicemail it still answers and tells the caller I'm not available, despite the fact I might be going to answer one of the other phones. Irritating.
