Your writing is really growing on me. You never choose easy things to write about, you always keep it complex, in a subtle and differentiated way. Like the Johanna/Haymitch dynamic isn't easy here. They both have so much baggage and despite having similar personalities, there still are a lot of differences between them that you highlight so well.

Also I liked that you set this at a Capitol coffee shop, a setting that is so unusual in a THG fic, and I don't think I've ever seen fic set at this particular time, dealing with that vote. Although that's such an interesting moment in canon.

Thanks! I really wanted to try my hand at canon!Hayhanna for Joan, and it was fun finally writing about a part that I've always been curious about. I haven't read much fic where any victors discuss the vote, and Katniss the Totally Unreliable Narrator is out during a crucial part in the story, so I just decided a certain victor-voter would want to come clean to someone she trusts, testing to see where they stand and such.

I'm just a sucker for coffee being involved during serious emotional conversations. ;) The next chapter of SOO (or SO3, as my beta jokingly refers to it) has our two main characters chatting over coffee.

Not sure if you ever read Callers but the setting here is Nero's Care, which features a few times in the fic. The event Johanna and Haymitch reference to is in the story as well, though it wasn't as nonchalant as Haymitch lets on.
