My cesarean was scheduled for next Thursday, the 29th, at which point I would have been just over 39 weeks pregnant. I had hoped to go into labor before that date. On Tuesday morning, I went to my regular weekly prenatal appointment and did a biophysical profile, during which we discovered that Baby A, Gianna, had low amniotic fluid and some issues with her heartrate. Two hours later I was in the hospital being prepped for the cesarean, only to discover I needed a blood transfusion before we could proceed as I was "dangerously anemic". During the time I received my two units of blood, I began having contractions and was officially "in labor"!
Gianna, Adam, and I are all home as of yesterday afternoon and healthy - Gianna was in NICU for approximately 36 hours being observed closely for her heart issues and was given a clean bill of health after an echocardiogram and consistently perfect stats.
Breastfeeding is going wonderfully - my milk came in about 2 days postpartum and I didn't experience any engorgement as I am nursing so frequently.
