Don't fall into the trapprofjoe14May 6 2006, 11:55:15 UTC
I don't think the fact that memories may haunt us necessitates an instance of wrongdoing. I'm still haunted by the past month and a half or so, but I would say my only wrongdoing is the fact that I'm still clinging to those memories, rather than the particular actions associated with them.
And second-of-ly, you can't just expect things to fall into your lap--"gifts", as you so choose to call them, are not necessarily deserved by anyone. There is always someone waiting in the shadows (or in the immediate foreground, for that matter), to swoop in and accept the prize. And even if you throw yourself into the fray as a fierce competitor, and do the absolute best you can do, it still may not be enough. Especially in this field, there will always be prejudices and preconceptions that get in the way, and there's nothing you, or I, or anyone else can do about that.
