The last time The Man bit off more regime change than he could chew, the hippies snuck in a progressive movement. This time around let's smoke less dope.
I like the Allan Ginsberg interpretation of the counter culture, such as it is and was. With each successive era there is a growing counter culture that edges out mainstream. By this standard, it's easy to get excited about everything that's happened in the last twenty years: Burning Man, the resurgence of (mass) protests as a means of political expression, anti-establishment art (everything from Banksy to adbusters to robots that spray graffiti), the re-emergence of comics as a voice for dissent: Get Your War On, Scott Bateman, Brad Neeley. Even comics like Patton Oswalt are not afraid to tell you on television what dumb animal the american public is. And those are just the things I could thing of on the spot. I'm SURE I'm missing big chunks of the current counter culture
