Back in New York (rp forverbal_vomit_1)

One nice thing about being of age, relatives were a little less likely to insist on constant adult supervision. At least his New York ones were. Liam had insisted that he had a few more things he wanted to do in the city that Friday night and would prefer to join his uncle and cousin at the Long Island house on Saturday. Marcus had given him one ( Read more... )

She probably did mean that, but as Chuck typed the words, it was more or less a thoughtless rush of joy that was in direct opposition of her opening remark to the young man. And then she was stuffing her laptop into her bag and scrambling up from the floor of her bathroom, out of her room and away from the apartment she called home. Liam was still here.

Liam was here. Thank God. She could spill her anxiety and woe into his lap and let her Country Boy make things better, or at least make her feel better for a little while longer. She hated than all their plans seemed to be crumbling apart.

Down the hall, up the elevator and into the foyer where Rory's apartment was located, Chuck didn't waste any time getting to the door and pressing the buzzer. One, two, three...open up all ready.

Liam didn't waste any time either. If he had to head for Long Island tomorrow, he planned to make the most of tonight. So when the buzzer sounded he was off the couch and opening the door in seconds. He smiled down at the tiny thing in her jeans and hoodie, leaving enough room for her to get past him and into the apartment.

"Hey, you. Get in here."

"Then quit blocking the door, doof." Not that she needed any more space to wiggle her way into the apartment proper, not that this stopped her from intentionally bumping Liam with her backpack. "I didn't know you were up here or I wouldn't have even gone home after school and then I would have been spared the worst news ever and maybe I'd still be wandering around thinking life was good."

She didn't pause to give him time to process her words before heading for the living room and dropping her back into a chair. Chuck chose to flop on the couch instead of her usual place on the coffee table--she figured Liam would join her anyhow.

Bad news? Liam's brow furrowed as he shut the door. Chuck didn't have quite Marcus' taste for theatrical melodrama. Whatever had happened had her sincerely upset.

With no Spaz around to make faces and crack jokes, he didn't hesitate to sit right next to his tiny friend and slide an arm around her shoulders. "What happened, Pixie?"
