Unfortunately, the day is getting very full of stuff that is mandatory. My son's health teacher noted that by the time they teach what they are required to teach about stuff like stress management, and looking out for kids in trouble, he really doesn't get to teach health. No time.

I am not sure it will be long before longer school years, except places like my brother's district already run 12 months to fit in all the kids without building a new school.
