The older brother of a childhood friend of mine contacted me on Facebook, his family had lived across the street from me, anyways he had a kind recollection of my Dad:

What a kind thing for him to share that story with you, out of the blue like that. Sometimes people know just the right things to say in a certain situation. And sounds like your father knew just the right thing to do in that situation.

Yeah, it was nice. Actually it's funny, my father always fixed things around the house, even if they seemed inconspicuous. After he died I had this chair in my room that suddenly had a leg that kept falling off, every time I picked it up to move it the damn leg kept falling off. Then one day, maybe a few months after my Dad had passed, it was not falling off, in fact it seemed like it had been glued back in. I asked around, family and such, and no one had fixed it.

Not sure what happened ;-0
