The carefully selected pictures are in front of her. She’s glad that Scotty had given some pictures as well. Awww, he had been such a cute child, judging by the pictures. She puts the pictures of young Kevin and young Scotty next to each other. Both so shy in front of the camera.

She smiles as she remembers how Kevin had been in his youth. Withdrawn, a bit of a loner. He had friends, but he also liked to be on his own. She sighs and she sticks the pictures in the album. A picture of Scotty when he was he 16, next to a picture of Kevin on his graduation day.

In the next pictures they’re older. Scotty strikes a pose, showing off the suit he wears as a waiter. Scotty had told her that Jordan had made that picture…

In the one of Kevin, Kevin is holding a law-book and he looks very serious. That boy should have laughed more often in the pictures.

Scotty, when he was around 24 years old. The picture is cut. When she had asked about it, Scotty had just frowned and he had explained that there used to be a boyfriend on this picture, but that it had been a messy and bad relationship and no longer something he wished to discuss. She had excepted that.

Fortunately she had a matching picture of Kevin. Also cut. Hank. Not a messy relationship or anything and she doesn’t believe that Kevin was unhappy with him. There had been more a certain contentment between them, but not passionate L.O.V.E.. They had fitted in each other’s hectic schedules and that had been convenient.

She sighs as she sees the next picture. It was taken the day of the pool-party, when Holly got outed as William’s mistress. Look at that, Scotty and his hair! and Kevin …. Well, Kevin was Kevin. She sighs. He had been so unhappy then. So lonely. She had hoped somehow that Scotty would be the one for him.

But it wasn’t meant to be. Kevin and Scotty turned out not to be so compatible… She stops for a moment, thinking about the relationships that Kevin had had with Chad and Jason. And the one-night affair with Scotty. With Scotty no longer available, she had really hoped that Jason would be the one who would finally make Kevin happy.

And then Scotty came back… She remembers how shy Kevin had looked when he had reintroduced Scotty to her, but it hadn’t really been necessary. Scotty had already become a part of her heart, when they had met the first time and he really never left.... She scolds herself for getting lost in memories.

She smiles when she sees the next. “Kitty and Robert’s wedding” it says on the back. How could she forget? Kevin looks angry, because he just got released and Scotty was annoyed, because they had missed mich of the party. Kevin because of the lock up and Scotty because he’d been searching for Kevin everywhere. Neither of them had noticed that a picture was taken of them…

The next one, thank God, is more cheerful. Taken the day after Kevin’s confrontation with Jason - or was it Scotty that had fought and won the duel? Anyway, it doesn’t matter, because they’re both all smiles and visibly in love. She’s still smiling when she picks up the last batch of pictures.

It all seems so long ago. The living-room and the many flowers, the rings ‘donated’ by Robert and Tommy, Justin and Rebecca had not even started a relationship yet. Saul had not even been officially out of the closet yet. And Kevin and Scotty… So much love, so much tenderness, so much faith.

She puts the pictures in a way that looks good to her. There! Kevin and Scotty’s love story told in pictures. She closes the album. Tomorrow she’ll finish it, decorate it, write some text here and there, and when she’s done, she can give it to Olivia, hoping it will give Olivia some sense of belonging to the family.

It will maybe be an extra tool for Kevin and Scotty to tell more about themselves. It must be so difficult to enter a family, that you don’t know and try to become a part of it. She stretches her back. She had forgotten how time-consuming this can be. After all, it’s been so long ago, since she made one for her own son, Evan.
