“Saul, where are you going?”
“Café 429.” Saul answers Jonathan’s question.
“Why?”
“Because I believe that Scotty should be updated about what happened last night.”

“Saulie,.. Nothing happened last night. It was business as usual. The customers were satisfied, there were plenty of tips, Angie did an amazing job. It was all good.”
“Yes, yes, I know, that is exactly what Scotty should know... That it all went right and that he has nothing to worry about.”

“If everything went according to Chad’s plan, the boys have had a wonderful evening to themselves. A hotel-room, dinner, breakfast in bed and hopefully a lot of fun between dinner and breakfast... If Scotty needs something, he’ll call you.” Jonathan says. “I worry about you, though. You work too much and you need to relax a bit...”

He takes Saul’s hand and kisses it.
“... And I know just the place where we need to go and find some peace of mind...” Saul gives him a suspicious look, but Jonathan merely laughs and takes his keys. “Trust me, Saul, you’ll love this.”

Nora walks around in the baby-store, confused by everything she sees. This place is huge!
“Kitty, I don’t know where to start.” She says and Kitty smiles.
“Anywhere we want. We have all day. This child is going to have ... everything....”
“I was afraid of that.” Nora mumbles.

“I feel so silly for giving away all of Evan’s things. He had so many cute little toys and outfits and bibs, that I would have loved to have for this baby too, things that would even work with a girl... Oh, well, it’s gone, it’s gone.” Kitty sighs.

“You had reasons to believe that your wouldn’t exactly get pregnant again.” Nora feels compelled to say. She’s happy that Kitty and Seth are adding another grandchild to her family, but, at the same time, she’s also worried about Kitty’s health. “Are you still alright, honey? You look a little pale.”

Kitty believes she should be angry, but today nothing can upset her, she’s too happy that she can finally enjoy her pregnancy.
“I’m fine, mom, but Evan had a bad dream last night and he didn’t want to sleep alone after that, so it was a bit busy in bed.” She laughs.

“I know that feeling. Whenever the weather would be bad, when it turned into a real stormy night, you and Tommy would always get in our bed as well.”
“Tommy? Really? I can’t imagine or remember... Are you sure it wasn’t Kevin?”
“No, it was Tommy, I’m sure of it. Kevin would still be asleep in his crib.”

“His crib?! That far back?! No wonder I can’t remember.... Speaking of cribs... Should I go for a square one or a round one? That round one over there is so pretty.”
“Not very practical though, if he or she gets bigger... In my mind I can see toes and feet sticking out of the bed.”

Kitty makes a face behind her mom’s back.
“I don’t plan to let our baby sleep in there until he or she is sixteen years old, you know.”
“I know, but this crib would be more useful. The height is good, it won’t strain your back too much.”

“Mom, all these cribs are adjustable.”
“I know that, but this one is right straightaway. It immediately shows what you need to see...” Nora replies stubbornly and Kitty heaves another sigh, suddenly realizing she should have asked Paige to come along and not Nora... It’s going to be a long day...

“Sarah, be honest with me. Why did Luc leave?” Joe asks and he helps Sarah clearing the table as well as he can. For the three mugs that Sarah takes, he can only take one, but at least, he’s helping.
“His last show was not a success. He can’t get a grip on his inspiration.”

“Is it because of me and Gabe?”
“No. He had lost it before... having you here was just his excuse for not seeking the problem in himself, I think.” Sarah answers, having given it some thought since Luc left. Joe doesn’t answer immediately.

“Would he come back if I leave?” He then asks. Sarah shrugs.
“I don’t know, Joe.... It does seem like I’m sucking the creativity out of the men around me. First you couldn’t manage to write and create songs until you divorced me and got back with Paula and now Luc is complaining about a lack of it. Is it me?” Sarah wonders, suddenly upset.

“No. Not with me anyway. I made a clear choice to be a father and ... it meant that all my energy went to something other than my creativity. When you and I split up and the kids moved in with Paula, Paula did everything she could to get to know the children, so she took them out of my hands a lot and that gave me back my energy for other things...

I cannot speak for Luc, naturally. I’ve hardly spoken to him. He certainly never talked to me about anything, most of the time he couldn’t even muster a ‘good-morning’ when we would run into each other in the kitchen. The only times we did talk, was when you or the kids were around, but that would be more to and about the kids, than about himself or me.”

“I know. I just don’t understand. He was so nice and polite all the time, but he got really ... jealous... when you temporarily moved in here. That is the thing I don’t understand. I love him. I married him. You may be the father of my children, but I have no desire to return to the life we had before... No offense.”

“Non taken. I agree. You are the mother of two of my three children, I love the times we had together, I have no regrets about having been married to you, but when we split up, you and I had became a closed chapter in our lives. And I remarried Paula because I loved her and ...

I have no desire to get back to it either. I guess I just feel a bit awkward under the circumstances. You’ve helped me so much and I don’t want to cause trouble in your marriage.” Joe says, still a bit worried about the impact of his presence on Sarah’s life with Luc.

“Well, you haven’t. Luc is a grown up man who makes his own decisions.” Sarah smiles and she gently squeezes Joe’s shoulder to let him know that she appreciates his concern about her marriage. “If he doesn’t believe in me and in what he and I have, then it doesn’t matter what you do or say. Or if you stay or leave...”

“Michelle, please, put that gun down.” Scotty begs, but Michelle shakes her head.
“Don’t even try, Scotty, and don’t any of you try to be a hero. Scotty can tell you that I know how to use a gun..” She warns.
“Yes, I remember your dad thought you that... to protect yourself... not to use on me...”

“Shut up... Let me think....” She breathes heavily. She’s tired. “Storage-room. Do you have one? Something that can be locked from the outside.”
“There is. Just...” Scotty tries.
“Where?”

“Over there.”
“You. All three of you. Get in!” She waves the gun in the direction of Mateo, Olivia and Daniel. Olivia, with Daniel on her arm, enters the storage room first, then Mateo. He turns to Michelle.

“Look, lady, this is not going to work.” He says.
“I’ll come back for you three later. If Kevin and Scotty are smart they’ll do what I say and no one needs to get hurt, they can have her and I’ll have my baby back...” Michelle says. She locks the door behind the children and then turns to Kevin and Scotty.

“I will not hesitate to kill either of you, if you stand in my way...” She threatens and she grabs two large pieces of cord that lie behind the bar and she throws one at Scotty. “Tie him up.” She orders, with a motion of her head towards Kevin. Kevin sits down on a chair and Scotty ties him up. Not too tightly, but Kevin cannot really break free either.

“Sit.” Michelle now tells Scotty.
“What is your plan to steal our child?” Michelle doesn’t answer, instead she ties up Scotty rather tightly and falls down on one of the chairs.
“I need to think...” She says and places the gun in front of her, on the table.

“Justin Walker? How nice to meet you.” From the sarcastic sound of Mike’s voice, Justin takes that it obviously isn’t.
“Yeah, greatest day of my life too. You called that you wanted to talk to me alone. So? What do you want?”

“I’ll keep this short and sweet.”
“Yes. Please.” Justin displays as much disinterest as he can.
“I could stall these divorce-procedures for a lot longer, if I want..” He starts. “And all that time you and Tyler won’t be able to move on.”

“Whatever you say.”
“But ... I could sign all the papers today, if I want...”
“Why don’t you?”
“I’ll do it... For a price.”

“What price?” Justin slowly sits up and his eyes lock with Mike’s.
“$100.000.” Mike answers and Justin gasps. “Oh, come on, it’s not like you can’t afford it. I read that your sister sold a large media-outlet, and the money, quite a lot of it, was divided amongst the family-members...”

“Doesn’t mean I want to throw it away.” Justin answers.
“You don’t want to spend it on ‘saving’ Tyler?” Mike sarcastically asks.
“I have no trouble with spending it on Tyler, it’s the giving it to you part that makes me sick to my stomach.” Justin answers coldly and Mike’s glare isn’t much warmer.

“Well, if you want that little girl all to yourself, you’ll have no choice but to cough up that money and get rid of me.” Mike’s grin is very smug and Justin’s fists clench under the table, yet, he manages to appear calm.
“I’ll get back to you.” He answers and he gets up.

“You really need to think this over?” Mike’s wonders surprised.
“I don’t have that kind of cash lying around. And, of course, I first want to find out if hiring a hit-man, to kill you, wouldn’t be a cheaper solution... It’s not like I can’t afford it.” Justin uses Mike's own words.

“... And that money will still be spend on Tyler, it will give me more satisfaction and I'll have a permanent solution to my problem... Like I said, I’ll get back to you and let you know.” Justin smiles as sweetly as he can, which is not difficult, when he sees the confusion and a hint of fear on Mike’s face.

Scotty watches how Michelle gets up, takes some gin from the bar and stumbles back to her chair. She pours herself a drink. From her pocket she takes a box of pills and Scotty can see how her hands shake as she takes one and swallows it down with the gin.
“Michelle, it’s not even noon yet...” He says, softly shaking his head.

“I need it. It helps me to stay focused.” Michelle explains. “And that focus will help me to get our son back.
“Our son? He’s not ours, he’s Kevin’s and mine. Michelle, you stole him from us...” Scotty tries to be a sweet as he can be and Kevin, wisely, keeps his mouth shut.

“No. You’re going to give me back our son. He’s ours. Yours and mine.” Michelle says. “I made sure of that. I didn’t want it to be his.” Scotty is shocked to see how Michelle’s face is filled with hatred for Kevin.
“What do you mean?” He asks, not understanding what is going on.

“The first time? When the baby could have been his...? I did everything I could think of to get a miscarriage. Everything the doctors told me not to do, I did... and it worked. I got rid of it...”
“You did that on purpose?” Scotty asks shocked.

“It had to be yours, don’t you understand? At first I didn’t see it either, I didn't understand, but then I did. I got a second chance. A chance to correct a mistake I had made....”
“What are you talking about? What mistake did you make?”
“When my parents forced me to abort our baby?”

“Your parents? Our baby? ... Michelle, you’re not making any sense.”
“Don’t you remember that night we made love?” She asks.
“You what?” Kevin asks, staring at Scotty.
“I had sex with you once, when I was 15-16 years old....” Scotty remembers.

“Exactly! That night! It was so beautiful....” Michelle smiles lovingly and Scotty makes a face.
“I only remember it as awkward... We didn’t talk to each other for months after that...”
“I found out I was pregnant.” Michelle casually drops the bomb on Scotty.

Scotty is visibly shocked and Kevin understands that this is news to Scotty.
“I don’t recall you ever being pregnant.”
“The moment my parents found out they took me to the hospital. Our baby got taken away from me.” Michelle’s eyes fill with tears.

“And you believe it was mine?” Scotty asks, slowly starting to understand where Michelle’s idea of ‘our’ child comes from.
“I had slept with you.” Michelle defends herself. She cannot help but feel that Scotty is rather cold about it all, like he doesn’t care.

“You slept with a lot of guys.” Scotty shrugs and Kevin winces, realising that doubting Michelle, at this point, is perhaps not the smartest thing.
“Do you think I’m lying?” Michelle stares at Scotty, unable to believe that he doubts her words.

“Not that you’re lying, but ... wishful thinking perhaps?” Scotty tries to soften his previously spoken words.
“I know who I was sleeping with, Scotty, and there was no one else but you.”
“Okay, I believe you, but that doesn’t justify stealing my son now.” Scotty says gently.

He consciously decides to leave Kevin out, as his name alone seems to make Michelle furious. Michelle frowns, unable to understand why Scotty can’t see the obvious.

“I didn’t really steal him. He was mine to begin with. I carried him for nine months. I could feel him grow inside me. It was all very intense and I knew ... I couldn’t give up our second child as well... Then I gave birth to him. I gave him life... It was all so amazing and I just knew he belonged with me.” Michelle seems so satisfied with what she has done, that Scotty starts to feel sick to his stomach.

“You told us you lost our child... I believed you... You lied to me. Do you have any idea what you’ve done? What you’ve cost us? In a time where we lost Robert, where Justin went back to a war where he may not have come back from, where we could hardly offer strength to Rebecca and Holly, you pulled the rug from underneath us by also stealing our baby.

You put us in a crises so deep, that... I cheated on Kevin... I nearly wrecked our marriage over your lies...” Scotty says.
“Good.” Michelle replies coldly. “You were always too good for him anyway. You deserve someone better than Kevin.”
