Telephone *****
"Hungry?" Scotty asks.
"Starving." Kevin answers, quickly kissing Scotty as he passes by.
"You're late again." Scotty points out. Kevin nods that he acknowledges Scotty words.
"Does that mean there isn't any food left?" He pouts. Scotty laughs.
"In this household? Unlikely." Scotty puts a dish in the micro-wave and presses the button, knowing that Kevin is watching his every move. He knows that Kevin likes to see him work in the kitchen. For some reason it comforts him, he once told Scotty, and Scotty will not question this. "How was your day?" He asks instead.
"Too long." Kevin answers with a shrug. Then he realizes it's not really an answer.
"I'm sorry, hon, I'm just tired. I guess you are too. There's too much in my head."
"I know." Scotty answers. They've been together for 9 years now, he knows his husband rather well. "Which is why I'm asking. I don't want you to go to bed with that much on your mind and not sleep half the night." He takes the dish out of the microwave and puts in front of Kevin.
Kevin doesn't say anything, instead he first eats a bit.
"How was your day?" Kevin then asks. Subtle! Scotty smiles.
"Had a customer who was rude to the staff. So, I took off my chef's apron and went into the restaurant to serve him and he acted like a brat about the food and demanded to see the chef.
I said to him "I am the chef. What is your problem?" He looked me up and down, must have calculated in the meantime that I'm bigger and more muscular than him, and most likely stronger too, and then said that it was just a misunderstanding... I politely agreed with him." Scotty tells him. Kevin snorts with laughter.
"I would have loved to see his face."
"It was worth getting out of the kitchen for, I can tell you that." Scotty laughs. Kevin pushes aside his now empty dish. Scotty, without further thinking, hands him his dessert. But when he's next to Kevin, Kevin turns, puts arms around Scotty's waist and pulls him closer. Practically sitting on Kevin's lap Scotty gives Kevin the kiss he had quietly asked for. There's a hunger in their kiss. It's been too long since they had the time to be alone together.
Slowly Kevin breaks the kiss, but he doesn't let Scotty go. And as uncomfortable as the position is for Scotty, he doesn't really want to leave Kevin's hold either.
"I had a busy, but fairly good day. Every case straightforward. No nasty surprises. Won two, lost one, but I had anticipated losing that one, so I wasn't hurt or shocked. Or offended.
But, all day, I just missed you. For some reason, all I could think of today, was being with you, hold you and just... I don't know... I wanted to be with you." Scotty smiles down on Kevin, loving Kevin's soft confession.
"Why don't we finish up here and go to bed early?" Scotty suggests. Kevin sighs tiredly.
"I'm exhausted." He says.
"No, nothing sexual, just being together, in bed. We can talk some more or just... not talk."
"You do realize that 'not talking, just snuggling' will ultimately lead to sex, right?"
"Yes. I know." Scotty accepts.
"Good, just wanted to go through the fine-print with you before signing the deal." Kevin grins. Scotty laughs and he gets up.
"You're such a lawyer!" He teases, quickly stealing one more kiss. Kevin gets up as well and he puts his dish in the sink. He wants to help Scotty cleaning up, but instead, Scotty stops him by taking Kevin's hand. "Come on, let's go upstairs, I'll clean up tomorrow, I just want to be with you right now." He says before he takes Kevin in his arms and kisses him. A kiss that is promise of more to come.
