Due to a long story that I don't have the energy to type, we're going to take a long weekend vacation in September, flying somewhereAll we have to do is figure out where to go

Oh, walking is very very good. It's one of the physical things I can still do easily, and I love a good walking city. Chicago is one of our favorites; it turns out John used to drive up there to decompress, and I took my first solo vacation there after my divorce and fell in love with Chicago.
It looks like San Francisco need to be on our list.
San Francisco is a GORGEOUS city also with lots of walking and lots of up-and-down. If you like fresh seafood, that's your best place to go. Lovely sightseeing. And don't forget to go across the bay to Sausilto but ignore the tourist traps and just wander around.
Why didn't I think of that? I've only been there once, while my daughter & I were working the ren faire nearby, and that was in the midst of the Big Dig. The husband's never been there. Thanks! That's one for the short list.
Boston's got everything from gen-u-wine American history lying thick on the ground, to the Science Museum, to lots of great food (especially seafood, if you're into that). The weather ought to be more or less pleasant in September.
San Francisco. Don't know how much it would cost to fly there but it's a fabulous city. Great fun! Colorful. Can go to the ocean. Can get Ghiradelli chocolates. (Future home of Star Fleet.)
San Francisco seems like a popular choice! And I love Ghiradelli chocolate. And we did visit the Star Trek Experience (or at least the bar) ever time we visited Vegas, until they took it away. I have many silly pictures of us with the cardboard standups.
We've been planning for years to someday to do a full northwest vacation, driving all over Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. I'd love a weekend in Seattle or Portland, if it didn't cost so much to fly there. But New Orleans is a definite maybe, and if I can find a sale, San Francisco might work. Thanks!
