I hate to be one of those people who speculate the second a celebrity dies, but here I am and not only am I doing it, I'm posting about it.

Bryttany Murphy, dead at 32, and what was my first thought? Oh no, she's so clearly a woman with an eating disorder history and I hope that's not what killed her. And then I find out she died from cardiac ( Read more... )

I have no idea who this is, but what a sad thing. I see these women on TV and I wonder how anyone thinks they're attractive.

I would be shocked to find out it WASN'T from her anorexia, that she always denied having, but kept getting thinner and thinner.

What a waste. Being healthy and in shape is great, but being a size 0 (or the newest trend in young women in Hollywood, 00) just for the sake of claiming that? Makes me wish people had a crazy (literally) grandma like I did who bought clothes from the thrift store that were small sizes and sewed the tags into her actual clothing. :)

That's how you can have your tater tots and eat them, too.

I don't get why Hollyweird sponsors think that women should be stick thin - all the men I hang out with are always looking at racks of boobs and rounded butts and make faces when a sickly skinny girl shows up. They all complain about wanting meat on the bones and junk in the trunk but sponsors/big wig execs seem to think differently. It amazes me.

Even at a size ten, I'm still carrying curves and while I know I could stand to lose a little more weight (or build more muscle, take your pick) at least I'm enjoying my body for a change.

Such a tragedy: a beautiful young woman, very talented, with so much to offer.

ITA on the eating disorder. One of the things that really fries my motherboard is reading people's criticisms of young actresses/performers that are weight-related. So much pressure.

Lately, I've been reading a lot of critical posts about Emily Deschanel's weight. ED wears a size 8, unlike the size 0-2 the other actresses on her show, Bones. As a result, some of the viewers that post on the show's official forum carp about her "looking pregnant". I keep saying that's not how pregnancy looks; it's how NORMAL looks when compared to undersized.

I know! According to The Spouse, she has "the best rack on TV", and he positively smiles with glee whenever "the girls" peek out. :-)

I'm unwilling to provide confirmation without further visual analysis.

Yeah, I wondered myself if it was related to an eating disorder. People were posting recent photos of her, and had I not known in advance that was her, I never would've recognized her. She looked unnaturally thin. Very tragic.
