A call for help?

Does anyone have any good food dehydrator recipes? Or know where to find some? I would like to start drying some fruits, we all like to snack on them, but the dried fruit I get in the store is so full of extra sugar I may as well just be buying candy. I would really like to start doing it myself, but am not quite sure how. Any pointers? Also, ( Read more... )

Wow! Thank you! I had never even thought of doing veggies, but I will definitly try it. I will have to find a coffee grinder too. I love the idea of sneaking veggies in when they least expect them! And it will add more flavor to the dishes with out salt too. My Hubby is on a low sodium, low cholesterol diet. Most packaged foods have so much salt!
Thank you so much!

My pleasure!
I got my coffee grinder from freecycle (woot for re-using rather than throwing out!) but you can find them a lot of times at tag sales, too. Ideally, I'd like three, one for coffee, one for spices/veggies and one for fruits/cinnamon/nutmeggy stuff (keeping the sweet and the savory seperate, as they're hard to get the dust out of all the nooks and crannies).

Dried celery, ground up, actually makes a nice salt substitute, apparently. :)
