If I could sum up my vacation, it would be this: Totally. Fucking. Awesome. I'm going to take a leaf outta my friend's book and write by day so I don't miss anything.
Friday
I finished packing and I drove to the airport to head out to Reno for my first meeting with Justin, this guy that I like a lot, and when I hit the extended parking lot, I had to stop to talk to the gate guy because they had put a "Lot Full - Reservations Only" sign up, and I had a reservation luckily. However, when he took the sign down and I got back into my car to put it in the lot, it wouldn't move. Uh-oh. The lot guy, who was super nice and I don't know his name still, had to push my car while I steered in neutral to a spot I was technically not supposed to be in, and decided to not freak out about it because I figured it was probably the battery and I wasn't going to let my weekend be ruined. I set up plans with my dad to have him come help me look at me car since he was at my uncle's house that weekend, and took off for Reno.
I got in at 10:45 PM, and Justin met me at the airport. We checked in at the
Atlantis Hotel, spent some time talking and cuddling, and so on. Didn't go eat dinner til 2 AM, and we almost fell asleep at the table. Yay for 24 hour restaurants in casinos. And here is a picture of the lead man:
Let me say here that meeting Justin was amazing. Everything was great. He's everything I've ever dreamed of in a partner. Makes my relationship with Shaun feel stale, and I know a few of you will understand how significant that is. The entire weekend was incredible. We did so much, and he remembered a ton of things I'd mentioned that I wanted to do, including wanting a picture of us together, and I will post the picture at the end of this entry. This was the best vacation and trip I've ever had. Period.
Saturday
We checked out of the hotel and did some shopping. We went over to his parent's house and I got to meet his daughter, Aerianna. She had just turned two last week, although they were having her party this weekend so the grandparents could attend. Here are a few pictures of where he lives:
This is the town where he lives, Virginia City. It's about 20 minutes from Reno, up the side of a mountain. Perfect for motorcycle riding.
This is his house and his neighbors. His house is the one more hidden there in the background. And it has a delicious hot tub. >.>
We spent the evening hanging out, talking with his family and playing with Aeri and spending some alone time together. Oh, and taking a 4 hour nap. We were really tired from the day before.
Sunday
The day of the birthday party. Here's a shot of the birthday girl!
Who, incidentally, loves watching Justin and I play Burnout on the 360. Which is what we did all morning while also cleaning the house.
I got a good picture of her opening presents with her dad, too.
Everyone got her noisy toys except for me. Dad wept once the partygoers left. I had to comfort him as the jarring notes of an extremely loud keyboard wafted in the background. Poor guy.
The birthday party is where I got to meet the grandparents and one of the cousins, as well as a co-worker. Everyone liked me, and all was well with the world. I hate it when the family of the person I'm dating hates me, which was the case in my last relationship, and I was very glad that it wasn't the case here. His parents love me. ^.^ I guess I figure that I'm so easy-going that it's a bad sign when parents don't like me, so I'm really glad that it wasn't the case here. I also had the double job of showing that girls people meet on the Internet are not necessarily creepers and I was like his ex-wife, whom he also met on the Internet. I'm very happy to say the parents started chatting with me after just a few hours of me being there, and they hugged me when I left and said they looked forward to seeing me.
Monday
We played some more Burnout (oh, how delicious you were on their 42" HDTV), and then we went on a ride around the very awesome turn-filled road to Reno, and went out to eat at this joint which had a ginormous burger that was awesome. Here's a picture of his bike:
A Suzuki DL 1000. It was... gawd it was awesome. We took every turn at 60 on a 30 - 45 MPH road, then rode out in the countryside for awhile. He was going to take me to look at bikes, but then he remembered that motorcycle shops are closed on Mondays. I was le sad.
Afterwards we went to the
Peppermill Casino to check in early to our spa suite - it's the Imperial Suite, if you want to know which one for linkage purposes. After making sure the bed was up to our standards, we ended up going out for some of the best Thai food I've ever had and decided to skip shopping in favor of having some fun at the casino. And by fun, I mean we played DDR in the arcade there, then went upstairs to relax in the Jacuzzi and sip champagne until our dessert arrived. Which then leads to...
Tuesday
We got up at 4 AM, spent some time together after getting ready, then snuggled in the airport for an hour before my plane took off. It was hard, getting on the plane. I didn't want to go. It felt like home there with him, Aeri, and his family. We took this picture together at the hotel before I left, though:
Don't we look cute? I think so.
I will be going back for a week in June. I can't wait to go. We're going to Las Vegas on that trip.
Oh, and I almost forgot! The car is fine - we changed the battery and the oil and she's as good as new. ^.^
Last thought for the day: Justin made the comment that his dad once told him that when you meet the right person for you, it blows everything else you had out of the water.
He was right.
