I've always been this way. I'm not extra-jaded this year, i swear.
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
I love hot chocolate. The real stuff, not stuff out of a packet. Mmmm.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Well, I don't live in a trailer so he probably doesn't SIT them anywhere. He SETS them somewhere, moron. *I* sit next to them. Does anyone in this country know English?
3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
I hate Christmas lights. I hate looking at them. I especially hate driving or walking around looking at OTHER people's lights. There is a limited amount of things you can do with lights on a string. Unless you synch it up to music or something, I don't care.
Except for Christmas in the Oaks in City Park. I like that. Maybe 'cause it's at home.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Pops does. I think it's silly. But whatever.
5. When do you put your decorations up?
i don't have my own. Oh wait. HA! I have matching ornaments that say "Jacob" and "Margie". Isn't that nice?
No. I will not be putting those anywhere. Up or down or sideways. Maybe on the yule log.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Since i have always spent Christmas in New Orleans, my favorite holiday dish would have to be an oyster poboy from Parran's or Gram's mac & cheese which really isn't mac & cheese at all. The best.
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
Enjoying Christmas? Running downstairs at 6am, waking my parents up, and having to wait for what seemed like eternity for my dad to get the video camera ready, start the music, and my mom to put on makeup. Then she and I had to walk together into the living room while Daddy filmed our reactions.
My new favorite memory is of Sarah D at age 2 screaming "LITTLE PEOPLE SCHOOLHOUSE IT'S WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED!"
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I don't remember, but it involved me (very shortly after) telling Meg that Santa didn't exist. I think I shattered her childhood. Isn't that what best friends are for?
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Yeah I used to. I think it was to shut me up.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
My parents decorate theirs with stuff we've had since the 70's. Including a gorilla that my dad got before I was born.
11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
You know what? I would probably love Christmas if I still lived where there is snow. I loved Christmas in St. Louis when I could go sledding and play with my Daddy in the snow.
12. Can you ice skate?
no, i hate it. it hurts my ankles.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Probably my American Girl doll, Samantha! And probably this year. LASIK and all that stuff.
14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Being at home with my family. And having Pops there.
15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Hmmm... I would say Gram's bread pudding, but we haven't had it since she was alive.
16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
We don't really have any cool traditions. I guess just being with my family. Probably family dinner at Pops' house and exchanging gifts afterwards. THat's usually after the 25th.
17. What tops your tree?
Um, it used to be an angel, now it's a star i think? I don't know. They don't even ask me to help decorate it anymore. Bah... humbug...
18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Giving. I just suck ass at picking out gifts. So if I really have a fabulous one, i can't WAIT for the person to open it.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
I hate Christmas music MORE than I hate Christmas lights. Hate hate hate hate hate. I think if i didn't hear it until the 24th, i would love every second. Before Thanksgiving is NO time to be hearing Perry Como crooning shit about the holidays.
