At a time when indie bookstores are struggling, it s the customer service that can make the difference. Too often these businesses are run as hobbies. Try doing a search on worst bookstores for some hilarious stories.
Sadly, the bookstore in question is pretty much the only game in town. They have, to the best of my knowledge, one competitor, but (a) their selection is inferior, (b) their location is inferior, and (c) the staff (a "mom and pop" team) err in the other direction, and are intrusively friendly and overly familiar with the customers (I always feel like they're trying to guilt-trip me into buying something).
