Movies

I had an extended week-end  so I ended up watching a few smap movies that were on my watch list:

Hotel Venus: I heard about this movie a lot and I knew it was in korean but somehow that fact only sank in when I started watching the movie :D
I loved the directing, the music, the acting, and the story. The characters don't start revealing things about themselves until late into the movie but you can't help but get attached to them even though you know  nothing about them because they're so human and so alive. The climax scene had me sobbing for real.

2046: another movie in a different language. Long years ago, before I even started to get into anything japanese (and when you still had to buy Internet "cards" for one hour of shitty 56kbit/s dial-up connection in my country), someone sent me the 2046 theme (I think the movie was just released that year) and I think it had a big impact on me. I listened to it a lot while I was writing my original novel (which happened to have the title 46) and it stayed in my playlists for years. I even got it aired in my college's internal radio.
When I got into smap and 2046 appeared as one of Kimura's movies and I was like "WTF IT'S FATE", lol
I think I had to watch In the mood for love first to properly appreciate 2046. I couldn't really get into the story but visually it's an intreresting work. The female characters are so charismatic and beautiful. I would watch a whole movie of the 2047 arc.

Messengers: a very cute movie full of good people and good feelings. I love Iijima Naoko (she was also my favourite in Jinsei wa jojo da). And of course I fell in love with Tsuyoshi's character.
Why do smap always look so good in pink?

Bushi no Ichibun: A great movie. The story is very touching. It shows a different side of samurai's life and values. Kimura did a wonderful job.

Yama no anata: again, I couldn't get into the story but it was more about the visuals. A movie with beautiful sceneries, a slow pace and a relaxing atmosphere.

Starting from next week my work hours will enter the summer regime. I'll have more time for marathoning dramas
