It's a good thing they didn't send you to Dresden. As soon as you landed people would be going "oh God, not again".

Let me get this straight: The waiter gave you two bottles of wine to compensate for his not going to sainsburys for fizz, after you told him not to bother even though is was your idea in the first place??

You are brilliant beyond measure.

Er.... yes. He was definitely up for going to Sainsburys, bless him, but I couldn't do that to him/wasn't drunk enough to insist.

I used to be able to walk into bars, demand champagne loudly and get it. Those were the days...

how was JL? I was all excited but then we went into Whole Paycheck^H^H^H^H Whole Foods Market today and it was like being in the US (in a very good way, except that I had to stop myself halving all the prices)

It's not amazinlgy huge, but it is very nice. The alcohol section is massive and is full of lovely things keenly priced. Lots of lovely cheeses as well. It's like the nicest bits of waitrose writ large.

As the esteemed gentleman mentions, it was very nice and some good bargains to be had. The Cheese Room really has to be seen, and 2 litres of Plymouth gin for £22 made the whole visit utterly worthwhile!
