No you're not smoking crack at all - it's a good idea for someone to want their bridesmaids to be able to use their dresses again, plus its a color most people feel comfortable in, and the whole black/white/cranberry thing fits your vibe very well. Knowing you, it will all make sense and be very classy :D

It sounds silly, but there are some who don't really get how to use black in a bridal party (for example, my mom was the maid of honor in one of her sister's wedding, and her maid of honor dress was black while everyone else was in pink...it made her look like she thought she was going to a funeral. 'Course it was also 1988, everyone looked like they were going to a funeral...where fashion went to die)

Another idea to give you the splash of color is the bouquet of course. I've seen some BEAUTIFUL weddings where the bride is in white and she has a cranberry bouquet....GORGEOUS!

For dress length, I vote below the knee or full length gown - those are probably the two most universally flattering lengths.

I also attended a wedding where the bride had the colorful sash to match her maids. (i think bride was in cream with brown sash, and brides were in brown with a green sash? maid of honor had cream sash? I think that's what happened - and it was outside, and the groomsmen were in cream linen, so it all was cohesive)

(cohesiveness - that is key)

(ok really I'm done...I LOVE WEDDING TALK.)
