Bridal Blog - Theme Weddings Part II - Boldly go where no bride has gone before

Aug 27, 2009 16:58

Logically, after my mad-awesome research on Star Wars weddings the next step would be a Star Trek Wedding Blog. And the Internets did not disappoint.

Star Trek theme weddings are fairly popular, and are a particularly feasible theme to create because you can get married in the Starship Enterprise - sort of. The Las Vegas Hilton boasted the home of the Star Trek Experience, where happy couples could flock and get married by a real Romu-klingon-vulcan-borg...what?? The space closed in 2008 due to lack of admissions and was supposed to reopen at a new location in time for the new movie, but alas this has not happened. So, unfortunately for modern Star Trek fans, you will have to build your own Enterprise to be married in. And too bad, because the Vegas Hilton was the place to be, if you wanted to be married by this guy:

What is that guy? He scares me.

Also, the "Experience" featured a mock-interior of the Enterprise, which pretty much makes the theme for you. However, one can always commit further. And believe me, they did.

Here's an oldie but goodie:

You will notice that the grooms coat is significant - is this coat famous to a particular wedding in the series?

This one seems almost indistinguishable to me from a biker wedding:

Come on! ZZ Top would totally fit in.

I have to admit, that this stylish red knit is cute AND affordable:

You know, I see all these grooms wearing masks, and it gives me great faith in love. You REALLY have to love a guy to let him wear this at your nuptuals:

A Romulan Wedding (no one invited Angry Eric Bana?)

Grooms cake!

Do we think the groom is in this photo? It's hard to tell.

This is from a rare Star Trek and Guys and Dolls hybrid wedding:

OH MY GOD EVERYONE COMMITTED:

And last but not least, the GREATEST Star Trek wedding:

It should be noted that costume stores feature several wedding gowns from popular Star Trek weddings. Google them, you will not be disappointed.
