*hugs* I guess for most of them they live week to week, so the don't realize how much planning one needs to do in advance. My employees are like that too. Ill fetch the chocolates for you.
Non snarky, non ranty response has been posted, apologizing, making the change they want, explaining my reasoning, and repeating again that this is why I need to know the important events before I start planning, rather than after the fact.
Chocolate accepted with gratitude. I also watched like three episodes of Tudor Monastery Farm on youtube last night, and historical reenactment by archaeologists and historians soothes the savage Mari enough for me to actually sleep instead of killing people.
Just remind them that if it had been up to Baden-Powell, the girls would be Boy Scouts. Scouting in England was self-organized by the youth, and when the first "Jamboree" was held at the Crystal Palace, girls showed up in integrated units. Baden-Powell wanted to accept them, but his Victorian board of directors said "No". So instead, Baden-Powell asked his sister (and then his wife, when his sister died) to get a parallel group started. An American who helped out, and who was divorcing her husband, returned from England and asked the Boy Scouts of America to let girls in. When they too refused, Juliette Gordon Lowe founded the Girl Scouts. In every country but the USA and the Muslim countries, the girls programs have been merged back to within th national Boy Scout program, including in England. So blame it on sexist, Victorian men.
