A Bike Ride, A Promise, An Update.
+ a bike ride +
I set my alarm early this morning, while our flat was still dimly lit and the fog was rolling off the City, and I went out for a ride. Mind you, I just brought my bike back to the house a few weeks ago, and it's been sitting forlorn in the front room since. And it's been months since I've ridden. Let me tell you, there's nothing better that I could have done for myself than to clip myself in and to take off down Columbus. I rode for an hour, to Fort Point and back, and even pushed back up the hill to my house. Now that I've officially reunited with the BBB (Bitty Blue Bicycle) I think we'll be all over the city soon enough.
+ a promise +
I'm thinking of starting a few projects in the New Year to keep myself regular... maybe something where I eat at a cheap restaurant ($10-15 and under for a whole meal?) in the City each week and then report back? Sort of like amateur restaurant reviews, only things are that I have to develop higher food standards and learn how to write about food. I love clipping out restaurant reviews and making lists of the one-dollar-sign restaurants, though. Doing snippet reviews would give me a reason to go and eat out by myself. Not that I've ever needed one...
And in other news - as of late --
+ nyc +
Our weekend in New York was wonderful, albeit quick - highlights including meeting G's family, spending time with my old roommate Kate (who lives in a classically tiny studio apartment in SoHo) and a walk in Central Park. We ate at
Ivo and Lulu,
Mozzarelli's,
Bubby's and
Red Bamboo (all of which I'd recommend) saw
Movin' Out, pushed through the crowds at Rockefeller Center, visited
MoCA and
MOMA and drank
Jacques Torres hot chocolate.
I've decided that NYC's a lot more livable, having been through Central Park - and nothing beats the subways.

Do I mourn over the loss of Hudson and Mulder? Yes, and parting is such sweet sorrow... I'm even more excited for the 2005 season, though, to see the new line-up and to be introduced to these (hopefully) worthy new prospects.
+ the holidays +
I'm a Christmas optimist, I love the season. Pretty much finished my shopping, just a little wrapping left to do. My Roots group had our holiday party tonight - I received a bundle of progressive cultural/Asian American-oriented magazines, including
Hyphen,
Monolid and
Alarm.

Reply to a Question with (Surprisingly) No Veiled Meaning: How do you make love last?
(I mean nothing by this question, honestly... just wanted to hear what you all have to say. G and I are doing fabulously, thank you.)
