It's fairly obvious that the cowboy is in his element when he is fighting. I didn't really expect that it would be different, but I did not expect him to really put his companions first. I suspected that he might have something like a soul when he warned me never to run into a burning room after books again or he'd kill me himself for endangering everyone else, but that was only a suspicion. The way he made sure Chaos and Haze were out first, as well as attempting to get Rose out of there before he had to bolt, proves it. Of course if I ever bring up that he is really a couragous man that has the raw makings of a leader, the other barflys will laugh and he'll sic his walking carpet on me.
And that's depending on if I even remember to tell him so when I get out of this. I've only felt this wiped a few times, but I've never had to face this kind of fatigue alone. The first time Menefer was there, the second Professor Latete, the third Lajos. Now I'm alone, sitting in this cell waiting for them to decide if I'm too much of a threat and have to be offed immediatly, or for them to decide to let me go. Using Lajos' name did not have the effect I'd been hoping it would. Damn Outcastes and their lack of appreciation. I'm not one to defend Dynasts, but if these assholes had half a clue how tiring it was to act like you really do own the world, they'd have a lot more respect for us. And I hate acting like this. I married Lajos because the name would protect Grandfather and me in the Realm, not because I ever wanted to be a Dynast. I'm just glad the others didn't have to see it. I know Chaos would understand, and I'm sure Haze could be brought around to realize it was just an act--if she didn't realize it immediatly. But since the morally bankrupt louse and I have started to try to get along only for the sake of the others, I don't think he would forgive it.
I'm glad Rose survived, if only barely. Of course I'll probably regret that if she's so pissed she says I summoned the stupid things. This is why you should never rely on others. Too many chances to get hurt.
If the others are smart, they'll work on getting out of Sijan before rumors link us.
