Y'know what? Jetpacks, zeppelins, and flying cars get too much press. I love them all, of course, don't get me wrong, but- it's the future. I want to commute in a powered parachute. I want to get a job in order to commute to it in a powered parachute.

Aren't they lovely? I want to see the alternate universe where those things are puttering across

I saw them in real life, once, when my father took me to the airshow at Oshkosh. I tried to look them up online afterwards, but he'd told me they were called ultralights, which threw off my search. We were camping at Oshkosh- that's part of the setup there, the week of the airshow a tent city complete with street signs sprouts from the ground- and I'd never heard of these things before, and I stepped outside our tent sometime in the evening and saw half-a-dozen rainbow parachutes with lawn chairs attached puttering off towards the horizon.
